Returning to the Fray
I have today recommenced tackling the kitchen - have had to go to the kitchen as I need to free up space in here before I can finally finish off the Pantry. It has been slow going, but every step brings me closer to the finish line.
It has been bitterly cold here in Peterborough and damp. I have stayed in the house, as I have indicated pottering about doing a bit here and there and generally getting stuck in, but gently. I have to pack up my extensive collection of baking pans, sandwich tins, fancy cake tins etc and put that into the dining room easily accessible for when I need to use some of the actual tins. I am going to need a few for the Christmas baking in any event. Maybe at some point will be able to get some of them back into the kitchen at some point; will see how it goes.
Once the kitchen is stripped I can then get the stuff out of the bottom of the Pantry and start sorting and emptying that out onto the shelves in the Pantry. This part of the process is going to be a tad tedious, but a necessary evil. At least with the new flooring it is a lot easier to keep the Pantry floor lovely and clean. Will soon be the same for the kitchen as well.
I had to go to the shop that is closing down round the corner from me i.e. the Co-Op. It is apparently being taken over by the Samy Group which I am led to believe is part of the Morrisons Group. We hope the prices are going to be better than those that the Co-Op were charging sometimes as much as 50 to 60p per item more than could be sourced elsewhere. The shelves have been a little bare for the past few days and it turns out that they have been having flash sales of certain items in the store predominantly on the tinned good sections, beer, milk shake section, flour, sugar that sort of thing. I had thought naively that they were just doing a stock take in ready for the hand-over so that they knew what they would have to ship out. I therefore had a look whilst I was in there and came away with one or two bargains although they did not have much of anything. A big jar of the Bisto Beef Granule/powder instead of nearly £4 for £1.25, four tins of anchovies in oil, 75p a tin; three tins of Pink Salmon usually about £3 a tin for £1.25 a tin; two jars of Ben's Sweet and Sour Sauce at £1 a jar instead of £1.80 a jar; 4 tins of Pilchards in Tomato sauce usually about 80p a tin down to 50p a tin. I have therefore managed to add a few bits extra to the Pantry shelf for which I am very grateful. I have only bought the bits will actually use though.
Right am off to put my feet up.
Have a lovely evening.
Catch you soon.
