Too Darn Hot
Beautiful though it is, we have all got to be careful over the next few days.
I know about how cold this house can be, but in the summer it really comes into its own as it tends to be cooler for the best part of the day and then mid afternoon it hots up. That is a blessing for Missy and Mischief. They have plenty of access to water, but I am also wiping them down with either tepid or colder water to help with the heat. Missy in particular does not cope with this well, however I also wipe Mischief down as well. She has a thick coat and really seems to appreciate it. I do have to go gently with her though. We also have a fan on directed at them.
I seem to have come to a stop on house things at the moment, as the humidity is affecting me as well. I go out into the garden of an evening when it starts to cool down a bit, but am not making much progress at the moment.
Weather conditions look as though they are going to be hot all next week as well interspaced with some showers, which I think we do need.
I have had some lovely clothes arrive over the past few days which I am very pleased with. It has been a long while since I word dresses, something that I used to wear a lot of at one time. On the dresses front I do need to make some changes to the hem levels, because of the loss of three inches in height. It has made quite a difference. And everything else is fitting, shoes, boots and tops. This has cheered me up quite a lot as I really do love nice clothes. The dresses are lovely quality (from Shein). My perspective and truth from my experiences. Well worth a look at.
G has been fishing again today. He is going next Wednesday or Thursday as well with his oldest friend. His mate works so it is dependent on whether he is supposed to be in work or not. I believe G is also fishing his first match for quite some years on the Tuesday as well. (Tuesday at the moment is cancelled). Just day fishing, but it is good that he is getting back into it at long last. Back to fishing widow status again. I am therefore hoping that I will be able to get into gear and get quite a bit sorted out whilst he is out of the house.
Yesterday we had a little visit out to our local Sainsburys. I have always liked Sainsburys for shopping however I cannot get there easily and so it made a nice change to have a proper look around and bring a few bits home. We have some fresh sweetcorn for tea this evening. Neither of us are really very hungry but this should fill the spot served with a spot of butter. I only like fresh sweetcorn though. I had gone for Oyster mushrooms which are one of my favourite things to eat with a salad. By the time we got there though, they had sold out. Perhaps another day. I shall certainly be going back as they have a lot of choice on ingredients.
We still have not been to the Tip. I have suggested that an early start tomorrow whilst it is cooler might be the way to go to get the rubbish that we have accumulated out of the way to tidy up, before we start on the next tranche of sorting out.
Let us see what tomorrow brings.
Keep safe.
Catch you soon.

As I was going round with the hose last night, watering my plants in planters, I thought of you with everything in pots. Bet you have had your work cut out. I don't manage well in this heat, as it really affects my asthma and I get overheated very quickly too. Ah, in the dark cold days of winter we will be wishing the summer sunshine back, that's for certain!
ReplyDeleteMorning BB, it has been a bit hard going with lifting the watering can. I bought a full sized new one recently as my old one was leaking. I can only fill it half way up though, but it is doing me good with the weight lifting! Well that is what I am telling myself. I have been going out after 6:00pm of an evening when things are starting to cool down a bit and water up a bit at a time. Everything seems to be doing okay apart from my pumpkins, leeks and some purple beans. Other veg especially the Kale seems to be really doing well. It is worth the effort as it is giving me downtime and my own peace of mind whilst I am nurturing something in the present for the future. I am dreadful in the heat always have been one of the few children who went on the beach who had to have a top on over my swimming costume. One year I was that bad after only being out in the Sun for half an hour ended up with what was called a touch of the Sun and very poorly. What happens when you have really blonde hair and are extremely fair skinned. Plus a wonky internal thermometer. Not a good combination. Don't get me wrong I love the Sun, it just doesn't like me very much. Totally right cuz come winter my digits will be blue and white and I will be wrapped up in loads of layers and the kitchen will be like a freezer. You take care in this heat, and make sure drink plenty of water hugs Tricia xx
ReplyDeleteIt will be getting very hot here after yesterday and todays cool down. Monday is expected to be 34*C feeling like 40*C + and this weather will continue for several days. Thank goodness for AC, however, I am not a fan of it , so I open the windows for a nice breeze to flow through. Now living on the fifth floor of an apartment complex I am not close to the hot air on the ground so a cooler breeze does feel better here. Oh! I do miss my garden but, happier here than where I was with my ex.
ReplyDeleteShow me some of pictures of your garden and flowers, would appreciate it. Thanks.
I had to look up Shein. I don't think we have them here. The dresses look nice.
