A Little Round Up

Today has been a busy one for me.  Commencing with the local taxi service arriving 10 minutes earlier than planned.  I therefore got to the Doctors surgery, earlier than expected.  They were backed up a little with appointments and so it was nearer to 12:45pm when I came out.  Everyone lovely as usual but as the temperature had dropped slightly today I was experiencing a mild Raynaud's episode and despite trying both arms she was having difficulty getting the blood from me.  I was being mean.  In the end it came after a bit of a massage by myself so both syringes (only two this time) were taken.  Have been known to take five or more in the past.  So that is all done and dusted until the results come in.

From there I decided that whilst I was out and about that I would go to B & Q and pick up a few more decorating supplies.  Came away with white gloss paint a big 5 litre tin, some white spirit, a new angled paint brush, and a roll of wallpaper.  So I have been tight on what I have spent but some of this should do us at least a couple of rooms.  I do have to go back into town to get some more sealant and decorators caulk (its cheaper where I went before) but hopefully once the wallpaper is off the wall and all the woodwork has been sanded and painted we should be ready to go.  Steep learning curve for me.  I am anticipating working on woodwork this week and decorating next week.  However have a lot to do.  I also want to get the flooring sorted for the kitchen and for the bathroom.  Dining room floor will have to wait for another month or so I think.  That will cost more pennies in any event.  That should neaten the flooring up.  However I do quite fancy a large rug for the dining room.  So will have to keep my eyes peeled to see if there is anything that takes my fancy.

I came back to a howling Harriet.  Missy was not impressed that she had been left with the cat on her own.  She has now calmed down and is asleep under the fan.  She has also had a long drink.  Howling gives you a sore throat. I am now going to set too and start in the back bedroom.  I am only going to be in the room next to her so if she wakes up all of a hurry I am within feet of her.

Right cup of coffee here we come.

A little later on.....

I thought I had better report on what I managed to get up to today not much as a Jack Russell woke up and did not let me.  Has been very cuddly and clingy today. Probably as a result of me leaving her when she was fast asleep and when she woke up her people were not there.

I have also ordered a new light fitting for the dining room.  It is a wrought iron effect Candleabra fitting; maximum voltage 40 watt per bulb; six bulbs needed.  The current one is falling apart.  This one is a little bigger than the previous one and hopefully it should fit in well with the room.  I would also like to get a ceiling rose, and maybe also do some coving around the edges, just a narrow one as there is not much space above the cupboard and going into the corner.  We will see though.

This is the light fitting have ordered:

Will give a bit more light in the room and also tidy things up a bit.
I have decided that after I get the dining room all decorated, new laminate flooring in, and maybe a new large rug (I quite fancy a vintage one), that I am then going to set about restoring my pine dressers (Jennie, I know you offered before to guide me, I hope that offer is still available); it is just I am not quite sure when it will happen at the moment, but I have decided that it is something I want to tackle.  The Dressers have been with me a good 45 years and I have held onto them through thick and thin.  It would be good if possible to get them all sorted for Christmas this year.  The Dressers do need new brass handles, sadly the original ones are slightly the worse for wear.

This evening I have ventured into the front bedroom to start a little sorting in there.  Instead of doing the back room.  There are a lot of items in here that need to go into the back bedroom and as I cannot get into the back bedroom at the moment I thought if I organised things in the front bedroom it will be just a matter of transferring items to the back room and then packing them away.  Quite a lot of it is Christmas decorations in any event.  So I will see what I can do.  It may be a matter of "bitting" between the front bedroom and the back bedroom to start with. Will see how I get on.

I hope everyone has a lovely evening.

Early start for me tomorrow.

Catch you soon.
