Not a Good Day

On the industry front today.  Things have been done just not where they need to be done. Unfortunately I have had an upset tummy today and I am not at my best.  However I intend to do some stuff this evening.  There is more to do than I had thought.

We have had showers (now a full blown Thunderstorm), it has been humid, I have had a headache, and totally out of sync.

The bags I had sorted have been delivered to the CS and I am finding more items.  I did deliver a Dog Bed around there but they had closed for the day so that will have to go tomorrow together with any other items I have located.  I am trying to be good and have a really good clear out.

Despite not being as industrious as I need to be I have picked 1kg of Blackberries out of the garden so not a complete fail.  Every little bit helps.

I have also picked some more Marigold Heads for drying naturally on the Dresser.  I will plant more of these next year as I have plans for all sorts of crafting.

I have also recently bought in some Squash seeds and some Broad Bean seeds also for next year.

The same with Nasturtiums, lots of plans for them as well.  Despite setting 70 odd seeds still not enough as I use them prolifically.  I also have plans to put them between the veggies to attract the pollinators in 2026.  I have already ordered in a load of seeds for next year.

I shall also plant or acquire plants of Surfinias as they really are glorious for hanging baskets etc.  As I am doing my own Hanging baskets again next year and Strawberry Baskets and Tubs.

The Herbs are doing really well especially the Lemon Verbena, the Purple Sage, the Lovage, the French Tarragon, the Chives.  There will be lots of drying, freezing and making individual jellies with some of these in due course.

I have ordered in fresh yeast via Ebay. It is time I got serious o the breadmaking front.  I want to learn to make bread properly and I was taught to use fresh yeast for this purpose.  I also want to make some Ginger Beer and you always used to get better results making it with fresh yeast so we shall see how things go.  Will also make a Ginger Bug and see how both types compare.

I also intend to re-visit the Sourdough.

Next month I will probably order a batch of new bread flour to store in the bins in the Pantry.

I might also order in some curing salts as well, as I have been itching to play on the Meat Preserving front for quite sometime.  Want to have a go at Salami, Salt Beef, Braesola, and Pastrami.  Have done Bacon before but would like to make some more.

I also have the core ingredients in the freezer for making Pate so will be making some of that as well.

So despite it not being a particularly good day, some things have been achieved.

I have also potted up two hanging pots that just clip over the top of a fence and planted them up with a Tagetes each and then three Nasturtium plants.  These are now hanging off the fence in the old Herb Garden.  I am hoping that they will bring a bit of colour and cheer to this area as well as being able to use the leaves and flowers in a dressing and an oil and other preserves.  Fingers crossed they come to something.

I have also lopped off a bit more of the Bay tree. I am going to have another look at this and will probably go up the ladder when G is out of the way to give it a neater trim.

On the grape vine there would appear to be a lot of grapes so will see how things go. I still have to tie the plant in a bit, and get bags over the grapes.  I also need to start off at least another couple of plants for further down the garden.

I have also packaged up some more shoes into their new storage boxes.  That is 20 boxes made up to date.  I have another two boxes of 10 to make up.

I have not done anything in the back bedroom and that is going to have to happen so there will be a few late Nighters! Not tonight though as I am going to try and get an earlier night being as I have an early morning planned for tomorrow and then an excursion to Home Bargains.

A lot of pottering, nothing substantial has taken place and about five loads of washing, which despite it raining earlier, I have managed to get line dried. There is a final wash in for tonight. Hopefully we will get some drying weather in-between the showers tomorrow. I have done a little more tidying in the kitchen - not much but it is a bit more done than was.

I am going to sort out a UFO project and get it bagged up and then that will be me for the evening.

G is out fishing tomorrow - no doubt he will be back about 4:30pm, but it is always an early start with him.  As long as he enjoys himself that is all that matters.

On other matters, I have not checked my phone today, and when I have done so tonight it would appear that the Doctor's surgery has been trying to contact me.  Will have to phone them tomorrow now as it was far too late when I looked at my phone.  Fingers crossed everything will be okay. Its either results of the eye tests, or something else.  Will see what tomorrow brings. Finger's crossed and toes plaited!

Hope everyone is keeping safe and well.

Catch you soon.
