Thursday Evening, Friday and Saturday

Time is of the essence for me here at the moment and therefore to save on time for me, I have bundled two and a bit days into this post.  Hopefully will be back to the normal routine by the end of next week.

Thursday Evening

I have the gum boots on the in the kitchen still getting stuck in.  Progress is not as good as I would wish, but there we are tiz only the depth that varies.  All the sink area is now squeaky clean and organised nicely. The cupboard is all sorted underneath and hopefully the rogue shelf has now been sorted out. The window and paintwork around the window has been washed down.  The nets have been washed and re-hung.  I do not bother letting them dry.  They dry naturally at the window.

I have decided that I need a new mop bucket so that is now on the list as well. The old one has a split in it and it will not be long before it is spilling the contents on the floor. Things are mounting up and I am going to have to pull the horns in a bit for the next couple of months apart from where it comes to food and flooring requirements. Preserving of course comes under the food category in any event.

Another small harvest of Blackberries from the garden again.  I also found three Nasturtium flowers and so I have picked these and am going to put some in an oil to make dressing.

I also have plans to make some more Rosemary oil for my hair and also a mint and Rosemary version.  I might as well bearing in mind that I have a good supply of fresh herbs at the moment.  I am feeling very blessed in this regard.  I do intend to expand on things for next year's season completely across the board.  I need bigger growing facilities though i.e. in the form of greenhouses/growing houses.

Friday

Yesterday (Thursday) 6 packets of 120 Nasturtium seeds arrived.  I have decided to grown no end of Nasturtiums next year as there are preserves that can be made and salts, oils, vinegars etc.  The seeds can also be made into Poor Man's Capers.  Not tried them so they are on the list to make and to try.

Back into the kitchen we go.  Hopefully will get to the bathroom today and be able to finish off the kitchen completely.

Have had quite an industrious day in the Kitchen. Walls have been washed down, kitchen equipment cleaned, cupboards washed out and re-arranged.  It is still a mess but am getting there.

The washer has been on non-stop.  I only have a small drum washing machine and it protests when a large bath sheet and another towel are popped in together.  It then starts the all singing and dancing show with lights flashing.  My previous machine was a 10kg model.  I therefore have to remember not to put much in on the towel front.

Fortunately I have got a lot of the washing air dried as it has been a beautiful hot day here again. Did not get all the washing done so I shall continue on with that and hopefully it will all be completed by tomorrow.

I will carry on and it will be a late night tonight.

Saturday

It has predominantly been a wet drizzly overcast day here in Peterborough.  I started in the kitchen again. Have managed to sort the cupboards that were bothering me and got quite a lot of stuff packed back into cupboards.

Laundry has also been on the go all day so far, still a big pile to do.  Bigger than usual because of the weather and not being able to get stuff out as I want it.  I will not use the Tumbler at this time of year.  Later in the year yes, but not now.  I often pop stuff on a coat-hanger and dry it inside, but there was too much to do it this way.  Did manage to get some out on the line as it "fined" up a bit and believe it or not at 18:23, the Sun is out for the evening.

I also have a boiling pot on the go for my vintage pure cotton items that somehow or the other have deep rooted marks on them, so I have them gently bubbling on the cooker top, whilst the rest of the stuff is going into the washing machine.

So it is onwards and upwards; going to be a late one and I am absolutely cream-crackered but have to keep at it.  It will be an early start again tomorrow.  Well I do get myself in these messes

G is going fishing on Tuesday and Thursday this week.  He is in a match on Tuesday (his fishing buddy is not going as he has to work).  He works for a local funeral home!  Then he is on his jollies for a fortnight.  I think G will go still as he knows quite a few of the lads that do actually go there.  It will keep him out of mischief and give me a little space to get on here a bit or to do something that I want to do for a change.  It should be a quieter week in any event.  Might be able to get the garden back on track again with a bit of luck.  Might also get some preserves made.

One job I do have to do this week is to sort out the under-stair cupboard and decorate it out.  Then G can put the flooring down as I keep tripping over it.

Have a lovely evening everyone.

Catch you soon.
