....the computer/craft room/study. I have started on the front bedroom with frequent trips into the back bedroom as this is the storage room in the house at present or it will be the only one by the time I have finished. G is on standby to do some lifting and moving for me as unfortunately these days I am not good at carrying things and I trip over very easily.
It is a drizzly grey day here in Peterborough. Do not know whether it is because I am on the move or not (I try to keep moving at all costs), but it is very muggy. I am bogging in as usual and hopefully with all the work going on at the moment it will give me a better foundation for phase two which hopefully will see more progress and where hopefully I will be able to address one room at a time. All self inflicted over the last 38 years! Long story, boring and real life has caused havoc on quite a few occasions and it has been a case of deal with it as best you can at the time. Each person's journey is very different to everyone else. There is a saying if it doesn't break you it will make you! Also one along the lines of you will only ever experience situations that you are more than capable of dealing with. That is the positive side of looking back over the past 38 years. You have to have hope and faith and be charitable along the way. I am not "Goody two shoes". Most people think I am but ever lurking under the surface is a proper rebel. I just go about things differently. It is good to be different! Have to embrace yourself for yourself warts n all!
Reverting back to last evening, I gathered a small harvest, the first of the French beans, some tomatoes cherry ones predominantly and a couple of Courgettes. I have some Tromboncini Squash forming as well. Been very disappointed with the yellow Courgettes have only had a couple so far. Hopefully can get the garden sorted out a bit more after Wednesday this week. I really need a good couple of days to get stuck in there. So there is always something to do here never time to be bored.

I have continued onwards in the bedroom for most of the day. I am more or less into the cupboard and have done well to get where I cam considering the mess it was in and is still in. I am hoping to concentrate on rooms one at a time now and give the projects a bit more focus.
I have also managed to get my shoe boxes into the small walk in wardrobe as well. Now can make the rest of the boxes up.
I also found a pair of ankle boots that I used to live in at one time. They were in a bit of a sorry state and well mucky. I was going to chuck them but they were a comfy pair of boots in their time. I then remembered that I had some Dr Beckman carpet spot cleaner and as they were an old pair of boots I thought it would be worth the experiment. The boots surface is like suede but it is not suede. I followed the directions and voila, I now have a saved and reclaimed pair of boots. They have come up similar to what they were when they were new. Not a mark on them. I am well chuffed. I have a pair of Skechers which I live in on a daily basis and I am going to try cleaning them the same way as well.
I am hoping after Wednesday to be able to get out into the garden for a couple of days as it really needs a good sort out and we need to go to the tip. Once the garden is tackled or the bulk of it I can then set about sorting out the stone shed. That will be another trip to the Tip.
Plans Moving Forward
Here we go again. Hopefully this time will manage to get it done. In fairness since I started sorting the house have managed to move the projects on that bit more each time even if I have not managed to complete the project.
Bathroom
I am going to start off again in the main bathroom. I have patched up the walls and ceiling in several places but that now it is more or less dry needs rubbing down and then G can start the process of decorating the main part of the bathroom after I have all the woodwork prepared ready to gloss. All being well I will be going to sort out the flooring this weekend and then G can replace the flooring and make it nice and clean in both the bathroom and the kitchen. It makes sense to do them together bearing in mind the bathroom runs straight off the kitchen. Not ideal but it is how the house is configurated. I also need a blind for the bathroom and still need to dig a small table out of the unit so that I can strip it and then paint it in chalk paint to pop either my lighthouse shelf or my Treasure Chest on it. Would also quite like another small table for in there so that I can pop on the Treasure chest which I store some of my nicer toiletries in. I also need a pole to put a shower curtain on. I have several crafting projects to do with shells as well. I also need a couple of small flip top bins for both the main part of the bathroom and the little room.
Kitchen
For the best part the kitchen is completed. Just need to get some of the cupboard doors painted and the new handles on. Then we need kick boards for all the units. I am thinking of getting wood and then painting it blue. A socket board needs to be run behind one of the units and then attached to the wall so that I can then run the microwave and the small electric multi cooker off of it. We then need to put new flooring down. I also need a kitchen blind. Although I would like them (as I think they keep a house warmer), there is not really enough room for curtains. I can put a frill/ruffle though to cover the top of the blind.
And:
Once the above two items are completed I will then set too and do the huge pile of ironing that is lurking in the bath tub at the moment. Once that is done there will be a need to sort out the main bedroom.
The Main Front Bedroom
I have clothes lurking everywhere at the moment which need a good sort out and re-organising. I have mentioned before that I tend to wear old clothes for doing housework but I have been good and chucked a couple of pair of joggers away that made me look homeless. I still have one of the older pairs but they will be going soon in any event. It will be good to get my wardrobes back to fully functioning. I have a lot of lovely clothes and tend to colour-co-ordinate them on the wardrobe rails as it makes finding things a bit easier.
I have been transferring some items from the Front Bedroom into the back bedroom and it is still tidy although I still have a lot more to do. I have found a lot of my missing books need something to put them in. I also have some magazines to sort out.
Despite it being for the best part of the day wet and windy, the wind and the rain have now gone and the forecast for tomorrow is good. I therefore set about sorting the washing and getting it washed and hung out on the line. I have left a load out overnight and will have more to hang out on the morrow. The ironing pile in the bath is a bit like Topsy and growing and growing!
So work is progressing - I am cream crackered but upwards and onwards. Wednesday I will probably not do much and rest up a little bit.
I am also hoping to get to some preserving this week as well.
Right I must get on.
Have a lovely evening.
Catch you soon.

You are always so busy, I don't know where you get the energy. Perhaps we could have some before and after photos? I am trying to sort my kitchen cupboards too. Xx Jane
ReplyDeleteErhm not afraid to show the after but would rather not show the befores! Sometimes things get a bit scary. I worked full time as an Equity Partner's Secretary/PA specifically in Children Act Proceedings Social Services Cases etc. as well as Divorce and Criminal work. When she left I then worked for other Solicitors and Partners. Used to preparing work at very short notice. I also had two step-children move in with us and worked full time. So was very used to being busy. Health conditions moved in and I suffer from a raft of Auto immune conditions as well as epilepsy and lots of other bits and and bobs and I do not give in gracefully. I like to be busy but I cannot do as much as I used to and it freaks me out even though I am realistic enough to know when to rest. It does not sit well so I push things and do as much as I can. The house is a problem that has been building for about 38 years and will not be sorted easily, but each time I have a go it moves it that bit more forward. I have a very small kitchen and the units I do have I have chosen to put things in that I use rather than what I could use. Cooking is one of my hobbies and I have lots of cooking bits and bobs too many for the kitchen and very little storage in this house which is rented. Will see what I can do for future posts for you. Take care Tricia xx
DeleteThat sounds like progress on several fronts.
ReplyDeleteHi BB, its another couple of steps forward for which I am grateful. But really need to get stuck in more. Always pushing things me. Take care Tricia xx
DeleteYou make me feel extremely lazy, although being a full-time carer means that I can't drop things and get stuck into big jobs, as I always get interrupted. It's frustrating, but I just have to do stuff when I can.
ReplyDeleteTracy, you are doing a sterling job. You have my admiration for being a full time carer. Hands up a lot of the problems here have been caused by various things over the 38 years we have been here. They will not be fixed easily but I keep having a good go at them. Do not mean to make you feel inadequate because you are not. It is frustrating when you start with a big job and then keep getting pulled in all directions. I can relate to that as usually when I start something here G suddenly needs assistance with something not as important and is lower on the priority list. Have to hold his hand because he just doesn't do a lot of stuff. Drives me nuts. That is why I have been breaking things down into smaller chunks. It drives me wappy too but at least I can pace myself better that way. We can only do what we can do at the end of the day and I am trying to thin things down and try and tidy the house in the process. We have lived in a mess for a while but I want the house back. You take care Hugs Tricia xx
