Wednesday moving forward

It is late Tuesday evening and I am shattered.  The preparation for freezing took longer than anticipated and then had to bag all the meat up and then as I have said I had to play freezer Jenga.  It was 9:30pm before I got sat down.

Since then, I have managed to watch a couple of You Tube videos to chill out a bit.  And then I have started plotting and planning.

Wednesday

A lovely Sunny warmer day.  Has been lovely to see the Sun again.  Makes such a difference.  Some washing has been done and lots of pottering has gone on indoors,  nothing substantial but every little bit forms part of a larger picture.  Just tried to enjoy the weather after not seeing the Sun for so long.

Thursday

I was a bit off colour and therefore decided to rest although quite a bit of washing did take place.  I also pottered moving some items from the dining room into storage in the back bedroom.  Not much, but every step needs to be productive and so in effect I have been quietly multi-tasking in the background.

The house is terribly upside down because of getting all the fishing equipment of G into the house for safe-keeping at the moment. Things could be worse.  My Dad  used to bring engines into the kitchen (at one of their first homes) and do them up on the kitchen table much to my Mum's horror.  The dining room is the middle room and tends to be the room where things are put down and forgotten about.

I am therefore going to have to get sorted in quite a big way. I think it will be the kitchen first again.  One of the smallest rooms in the house, and I need it to be reasonably tidy to operate.  I am therefore going to have to get my sleeves rolled up and get stuck in.

I still have not got my cupboard under the sink emptied and scrubbed down.  I think this will be a priority to deal with over the weekend, as I still have all the cleaning equipment I did buy last week to go under there. I did get the soap powder into its cupboard and the fabric softener in-situ though and the toilet tissue.  This is kept in the little room as I have a couple of shelves in there for storing supplies on.  I do think though that I may well get some storage bags to put stuff in.

Friday

Another quiet day and it has been cold and wet.  The light went earlier tonight than it has been doing, due to cloud.  I am still slightly off colour.  Very bad back at the moment and my knees are not co-operating.  Damp and wet weather to blame.

We have also heard from the insurance company that our car has been written off. There is quite a lot of hidden damage that you cannot actually see just by looking at the car. They are going to retrieve our car and have it examined before the final decision (just to make sure) and then will finally come forward with a formal offer.  Not happy bunnies as we both loved the car we had. Perhaps the best car we have ever had.  So much destruction because of someone's negligence.

Planning Moving Forward - Crafting

I am also starting to gather things together very gradually in respect of my crafting.  I am planning on playing with Patchwork in the not too distant future and I am starting to gather some fabrics together for this purpose.  I have a lot in the house in any event, but I am thinking specific colourways and projects for later in the year. I have just sent for some Calico fabric 5 metres in total for general crafting. I have several projects in mind for this.  To start with I am thinking simple quilts, perhaps some home made bunting, and to be used for background fabric and also backing on quilts. We will see how things progress.  In the meantime, if a fabric takes my fancy I will order some in and start a stash.  Predominantly I am thinking for a quilt in my bedroom in pinks, greens.  I have various blues, white and lilac fabrics which I am going to make a practice quilt with as well.  That will help shift some of my existing stash.

I also want to have a play with a couple of projects I have not tried before as well, I am thinking specifically Needle Punch work here. I have the tools now I will have some base fabric.

Always something going on here, whether that be ideas and inspiration or actually doing stuff and making stuff.  A lot of planning does go on beforehand though.

I am hoping that G will go and do some fishing again soon.  He has kept to the house because of the cold and wet.  He never used to feel the cold in his  younger years but seems to be feeling it these days.

If and when he goes fishing I intend to go into the front bedroom and retrieve some items that I have in there.  I will also look for some of my sewing projects and bits and bobs whilst I am in there.

I did go and retrieve the large picture and the frame from the Charity shop the other day.  I am very pleased with both.  The dark wood frame which has a print in it I am going to use for a sampler eventually which still needs completion.

I really need to get myself in a routine where I do household chores and then have some time of an afternoon to actually sit and stitch, then get tea, and then get back to the crafting again as well.  If I am to achieve this though, it may well mean me posting every other day or so, rather than necessarily every day.  I will see how things go and what works out best overall.  I need to get on with the execution of items and getting them out of the way with.  However that very much determines on which routine I settle on overall.

Lots still to do and lots of plans.  Hopefully will get more done in the coming week.

Catch you soon.

  1. Definitely a good idea to work in the morning, and stitch or garden in the afternoon. I must get some seeds started off soon - I have a nice wide windowsill in my craft room, which faces South. This constant rain has not been encouraging for anything to do with the garden, though I've done some weeding when I can. Sorry to hear that your car is a rightoff. I hope you can find another you like just as much.

    1. Hi Jennie, that is what I thought to make the best of the morning and get dinner prepped up for the day too so I can do some of the crafting, move it on a bit and get some of the pieces completed and get them out of the way with and hopefully free up a bit more room. I am hoping to do some seeds and the plan was not to do so many this year as we were going down to Cornwall for a spell. However with the car being written off that has thrown that into possibly not happening. Depends on the insurance payment but I fear that we will be unable to afford the same quality car which pulls the caravan through no fault of our own. We will just have to see what the insurance comes up with. Extremely galling as G had just paid out for two new tyres as a result of the MOT which happened literally 10 days before the accident. That was about £300! It would appear that we are not meant to have a nice car. This will be the third write off in approximately 40 years! At least no one was hurt! It will do you good to get in the garden, I know how much you love being out and nurturing the plants and the seeds onwards and you always come up with a beautiful display. I love being out in the garden it soothes my soul and gives me some respite. Will see if I can get out and do some sowing too. Take care sweetheart xx
