What a difference some Rain makes
Soft, gentle rain that will do a lot of good. It has rained for the majority of the night and we have had drizzly patches this morning. I have been out in to the passage as there has been lots of overflow from the drains in the street - not massively but the drains do not seem built to deal with loads of water in one go which is what has happened the last day or so. Debris has also been washed out from the guttering and so have tidied the passage up of all the mess as best as I can. The flooring is wet and so will need another wash down another day. It has cooled things down very nicely and I think what vegetation and plant growth is still alive has breathed a sigh of relief. I know I have. Even when it was raining last night it was sticky though.
There is a cooler breeze today, more comfortable, the sort of "damp" day you would associate with rain in any event. It is not cold or uncomfortable though and I have not been running for my jumper yet.
We need more of this gentle rain to do good, and repair some of the damage inflicted by this excessive drought period. I think we all need a care to keeping rain water barrels in the garden and keeping them fed, and being a bit more proactive with water supplies and rainwater collection. We cannot grow anything without water, We cannot grow anything to eat without the bees. without growing food we cannot eat. We need to be more considerate of our footprints here on earth. The earth is not ours but an inheritance care-taker-ship for our children and our children's children etc. and so on.
Therefore what is the Government actually doing to make sure that our needs are met with regard to food and water. We are reliant on so many overseas products. Perhaps this is a wake up call for all of us to do more where we can, even if it is something small. Every small step taken leads to a larger stride in the future. We need to make changes and those changes will lead to a new set of priorities for every single family. Without water we will not survive.
But at least it rained yesterday and today it has rained. Changes can be made we have that breathing space, but perhaps if we learn from this incident at all we put in those measures so necessary for our own survival and the survival of the wildlife in this country. We have been forewarned.
Catch you later.
