Christmas Pyramids

As I mentioned in a recent post, I have treated myself  to a new Christmas decoration a German Christmas Pyramid which has the Nativity on it.  I received that decoration today.  I liked it so much that I went looking for a sister to it, and found the same model pre-loved for £9.99 which has been ordered, however it will be the end of the week before it gets delivered.  The only difference is in size, between the one I already had.  The one that arrived today is slightly smaller as is the one that I have ordered today.  I am pleased with that as they will come into play next Christmas as table centres on the dining room table.  I am very chuffed to say am very pleased with the first one and fingers crossed I will be with the second one.  I like to match things up in pairs, especially if they are to go on a table.

Once upon a time you used to get the candles in with the Pyramid but not now and I have subsequently ordered some natural beeswax candles for the Pyramids.  I am hoping to get these before Christmas so that I can light them both up.  Sadly that has not happened so far, possibly because of the holidays I was late in ordering them.  If they come in advance of New Year will put up a post of the two Pyramids with their candles lit.

I also inherited one of two Angel Chimes, which basically is a little brass candle driven table piece with cut out Angels or Cupids on. Mum always used to put them on our Christmas table.  On her passing, my brother received one and I the other.  I was looking for a sister one to go with this one as well, and the prices are about £25 upwards.  I will keep looking but I do not want to pay an arm and a leg for them.  You never quite know where things turn up though.  So fingers crossed something will turn up.

Part of the charm for the Christmas decorating for me has and always will be the "lights" whether they be driven by candles or electricity.  The "lights" always brighten things up a bit and are an integral part of the decorating.  I am already planning for next year sourcing more lights, including some new tree lights to include candle lights for the tree.  I do need new lights and thought would look for these out of season, and build up what I actually would like. Our tree is a build up one with strong metal branches that had no lights on it/or built in when we bought it over 15 years ago. I cost about £400.  However it is a first class tree.  I think I am going to need at least two sets of lights for it.  I am also quite intrigued by the "Harry Potter style lights" where the candles appear to be floating.

I already have some tiny tea lights that can be scattered through the house, and I have ordered two sets of three pillar candle sets (also battery operated) for a faux display/displays in the house over Christmas.  However, I also love proper candles and the flickering light they provide.  I am very careful where I site these though.  I plan to have a go at making candles next year and hopefully to provide some as presents in the process. I have acquired a few different moulds to do this.  I thought it would be a good thing to learn in any event as you always need a candle or two in any event.

There is always some kind of planning and plotting going on in the background; I have found building up things in stages often eases the costs and then you get to blend items that you really like with each other.  I do the same when I make things as well.

Right am off to potter.

Catch you soon.
