.....and I have had some help. G offered to sort out the back bedroom so that things are a bit tidier than they were and I must say he has done a good job in stacking them. I do need to go through each box though and that job will start later in the week after I have paid some much needed attention to the garden. Talking of the Garden, I have not shown my little wall planters up since I potted them up or the big bowl container. They are looking very cheerful and the wall planters are soon to go up outside the kitchen window and the bathroom window there are four in all. The big planter is located near the patio.
The Wall Planters - I am very pleased with these

The big bowl planter without a stand. I have improvised and added a planter underneath to support it. Waste not want not. The base to this particular planter was lost in the fire that we had here about four years ago.
One of the bigger Lavender planters that was bought in is having a second bloom. I shall make sure to pick and dry some of it, but have mainly been letting the bees enjoy it. I shall buy in more Lavender for next year. I am going to have my own bees one day. It has been fascinating watching them in the garden.
I am really pleased with how these have turned out with so few plants and not sure what some of the colours would be. Next year I intend to get sowing early as I intend to sow and plant up a lot of stuff that I have grown myself. Try and get back to what I used to do but I need to be better organised. Thus far I have not been able to buy in the hanging baskets and plants I was after. Something else needed dealing with first. Fingers crossed that will happen shortly as even though I tend to be untidy for the best part, I like things to look nice.
I have derived much peace and pleasure from the garden this year even though it has been an awful lot of work. My only gripe really is that I could do with a lot more space especially for growing houses and a bit more for gardening. I am trying to make the best of what I have.
I am in the kitchen, whilst G has been dealing with upstairs. Starting to really get to grips with the kitchen - I haven't really been in the mood to deal with things, and it always tends to hinder me. Hopefully will get a lot more done this evening. I am pulling a late one and an early start tomorrow. Probably for the next few days as I have an awful lot to do.
G is in a fishing match on Tuesday. He fishes at a local lake, and meets up with a set of gentleman in their prime ranging from 50 upwards. It is all very civilised, they have a breakfast, stop for lunch and then weigh in about 3:30pm. When you fish normal matches you do not normally stop for a lunch break! Still he is enjoying it and that is all that matters. It also gives me some breathing space, although I am babysitting a certain little Jack Russell who can be a touch challenging.
Right am off to sort some of my appliances out, clean them up, get some of them into cupboards so I have a little more worktop space and a bit more room to move.
Have a lovely evening, it is still quite bright here - in fact a lovely evening. Just the sort of evening to go to a pub! I could quite easily quaff a pint of nice cider. That will have to wait, do not want to be wobbly on the job!
Catch you soon.

Your pots are very bright and cheery. I have had a good show of marigolds this year. Last year they were demolished by slugs. I have read that slugs don't like marigolds, but my slugs obviously haven't read the book!
ReplyDeleteThank you Tracy. I grew Marigolds too and have been drying the heads as I am going to be using them in making Poor Man's Saffron (basically just substituting some of the Marigold petals instead of using Saffron in rice). There is also a homemade cheese recipe I want to have a go at. I did not know that Slugs are not supposed to like Marigolds. I think you got the Dyslexic slugs either that or they need glasses. Only joking xx
DeleteI didn't know you could do that with marigold petals. Thanks for the idea. I can feel an experiment coming on! You have to laugh at slugs and snails or else you would cry. x
