Some good news - Updated

 which was very much needed.

Within a two week turnaround period since our car was written off, we are pleased to have received compensation to purchase a new car with.  Not the top of the range Ford Mondeo Vignale that we had, nothing available in the price range we had available. However the next model down from the Viagnale, this time the Titanium which will also pull our double axle caravan without damaging it.  So hopefully will get down to Cornwall soon now that we are  back on the road.

Big shout out to Hastings Direct for a speedy and prompt replacement process. The damage was not our fault and we have not had to pay any excess.  They have been excellent to deal with.

Now that saga is over with, hopefully G will calm down a bit (he has been a bit wound up which has taken some dealing with but we have got there). Hopefully he will be able to go fishing now and relax!

On other matters, I have had to replace one of my coats - not something that I like doing as coats for me I wear to death - and I am the same with shoes.  However, this one was past its best, although I will use it to wear when I am out in the garden.  Just not good enough for going out in. There was a sale on locally we therefore went and had a look.  As I am vertically challenged these days, certain length coats end up drowning me. I looked at a beautiful longer length coat for winter just not for me at this particular time of year.  However, I did manage to find two shorter coats one a lot thicker than the other but both pretty practical and excellent prices.  I have a beautiful coat down at the caravan that I have only worn a couple of times and that will be brought back this time round as it is lovely and warm.

As a result of G picking up the new to us car this morning, his fishing equipment has started to disappear into the car so that he can go and fish when he wants to now that the better weather is starting to creep in.

Tea tonight has been Cottage Pie as we have not had one for a while.  I had just under a kilo of mince out of the freezer and I managed to get two large Cottage Pies out of the mince with the addition of onion, carrot and some leek which I was quite pleased about.  I have used a couple of Pyrex oblong dishes for this purpose.  The second Cottage Pie will be squeezed into the Freezer.

Now that things have calmed down a bit I am hoping to get stuck in on the house again. I am itching to get out in the garden and do a bit of tidying up.

Hope life is treating you well.

Catch you soon.

  1. Yes, definitely a good idea to get out into the garden early and start the spring tidy up and try and get ahead of things. So glad you have got your replacement car and I hope you can get down to Cornwall for a (crafting?!) break before things kick off in the garden and you daren't leave them.

    1. Hi Jennie, I am hoping to get some salad stuff on the go as well as some herbs. I have just been checking my herbs in the garden and I have Lovage, Purple Sage, Chocolate Mint, Lemon Balm coming through. Looks as though have lost my Lemon Verbena and French Tarragon which I may well replace as I love both. Hoping to start off this week sometime if and when G goes fishing. We are very pleased about the car. G tends to be like a bear with a sore head if he does not have wheels. I cannot and am not allowed to drive and so I rely on him a lot of the time to take me somewhere. I am planning to get down to Cornwall as soon as I can. I have withdrawal symptoms as I love it so much. I always feel as though I am at home when am down there and room and time to craft. Am planning on taking my sewing machine down with some fabric to start on some simple machined quilts as well as some Hexies. There is also a big Hobbycraft store in Truro which I usually get to at least once when I am down there. Room to encourage creativity and also dream amongst a beautiful rugged back drop. Am going to set some stuff - I am twitching to get going as soon as I can. Hopefully will be able to get out and create some order if the weather remains good. A few more trips for G to the trip in the process! Will do my best at doing a bit of everything. Take care sweetie xx

    1. Thank you Tracy. It is a big relief, and we are very pleased with the service and support from the insurance company which has made it a lot easier. The young man in question managed to write two cars off and cause damage to his own car. Was going too fast in a built up area to turn his own car around after colliding with the hairdressers car which was shunted into ours. Quite some force involved. I am going to be writing to the Council to see if they will put some speed bumps in situ and probably cc it into the local MP as well. We have OAPs and young children down this street. The OAPs are often slow crossing the road and we also have different aged children coming out of the schools as well. We find that it is particularly bad when there is a big wedding and a lot of posturing goes on and speed from young men with hired cars just showing off and going far too fast. Take care Tricia xx
