A visit to the Charity Shop and Ebay

Image
Once upon a time on a Saturday morning it used to be a regular event that I would go tootling around to the Charity shop around the corner from where I live and have a mosey and see if there was anything that took my fancy and if it did I would bring it home.  I know the Manageress very well due to my frequent comings and goings and since Christmas I have kind of got out of the routine of popping around.  I think the last things I bought were at Christmas a large white Italian stoneware Soup Tureen and four gold twisted stem drinks glasses and some small green liqueur glasses (5 of).  Yesterday I managed to pop in during a return trip from the Chemist.  There was not much in as they were in the process of emptying the shop ready for new stock to be delivered on Monday.  However I did find these little green glasses which I think are really lovely.    A full set of six to go specifically with my green glass table collec...

In Search of a Replacement Slow Cooker Bowl

Well I have started with the manufacturer who do a whole host of replacement bowls.  Mine has been discontinued but I have been invited to contact them in order that they may be able to suggest a replacement alternative.  So that is what I have done.  I have already been onto ebay and cannot see anything at present but you never know something may turn up.  Its quite curious actually because I found the instruction book ever so easily - it kind of leapt out on me without me having to hardly look. So I have the model number and the serial number which I have been able to quote.  So as it stands I am waiting for them to get in touch.  Nothing ventured nothing gained and might as well start with the supplier.  I have also been checking out replacements for other pieces of equipment as well.  In particular I have a Magimix Food Processor and I noticed the other day the handle has cracked so I may in time invest in a new bowl as it is a ver...

My Jam Pan Has arrived

Jam Pan It arrived yesterday and had been slung over the fence by the delivery company.  It would appear everything is okay but I will test drive it tomorrow to make absolutely sure.  Its a brand new machine - looks as though it has never been used as everything is like my original one was when I first got that so I am pretty sure it has not been used.  Am very chuffed as I missed my Jam maker. I had a couple of options.  Lakeland have a similar pan from Ball in stock but they want £150 for it.  Being as I had all the accompaniments still to my original pan that's why I looked on ebay.  I have saved myself quite a bit of money but the gadgets that go with the pan can be used on the new one as well so a bit more flexibility there when using it. To test drive  my old pan and also the new one I thought I would make some pear and chocolate jam which will be ideal for croissants.  I found some pears reduced at the Co-Op which all...

In the Bad books

Three little kittens (well not so little anymore) are in deep dooh dooh.  They have had a made chase about whilst I have been at work and they have knocked my mum's slow cooker off of its shelf and broken the pottery bowl.  I am not a happy bunny as I had this in mind to have a go at making some home made soap.  I will try and locate another bowl as it would be a shame to give it up.  Sometimes I have come across them in Charity shops so I will have to keep a look out. Needless to say the kittens are not flavour of the month and are keeping their distance for the time being.  They know mum is not too happy with them!  I won't be cross for long with them.  I never am.  Worse than children Pattypan x

Well

Its been a really busy day and I am shattered. I have been to the hospital and saw N my previous Physiotherapist, who happens to be the head honcho.  She recognised me and said  jokingly I do not normally get people back.  Told her its a different thing this time. Last time it was my back this time its my feet according to my consultant that is causing problems with my back. N gave me a good going over and believes the problem with my feet is my bunions! She thought it might be the optimum time to get them sorted once and for all I have indeed gone down on my arches but she believes that even if I paid out for the expensive insoles it would not solve the problem.  She wants a second opinion and has asked that I get my GP to refer me to one of the foot Consultants at the hospital. Both feet need doing. I have also stiffened up quite a bit round my hips and I have some general simple core exercises to do for the next month before she...

Tefal Vitafruit Jam Machine

I used to have one of these having bought it from new and I still have the faulty machine and its attachments.  Browsing on ebay I found one up for sale and bid and tonight I have won a brand new one.  The only reason I have gone for it is because when it worked my previous machine was a handy little gadget which meant I could get on with other things whilst it was working. Which is a great time saver when one works full time. Will see how I get on with this one.  My original one came from Lakeland and the jam pan locked onto its base.  When it did this though it was well out of its guarantee.  So now I have another one coming I will see if OH can do anything with it otherwise it will be going in the bin apart from the extra bits.  Lakeland have not done this jam pan for some particular length of time but they have a Ball one in now which is £150.   So will see how I get on. I can only try and I have not expended too much mone...
