Preparation Work behind the scenes and Crafting Part 3 Wednesday 8 March 2023
This is a continuation of two previous posts.
Wednesday 1 March 2023
I was supposed to be knitting tonight, but I needed to locate the knitting pattern for finishing off my neck shawls which are near completion.
I have therefore taken the opportunity of sorting through several bags of UFO projects and sorting them out putting contents with the right kits and minimising the amount of bags I started off with.
I have several embroidery, cross stitch and needlepoint projects on the go. There are still several down at the caravan. There is also a bag of patchwork materials, templates, rulers, my Hexies that I have already worked, more fabric, other patchwork projects etc. I had bought in some. Now need to do my own, to get the paper templates cut out and their corresponding fabric pieces. In this respect I need Hexie templates to print off. I have found them here:
I cannot print the templates off at the moment as I do not have any printer cartridges, so am leaving a link here for me to come back to, once that is sorted.
I have since managed to find loads more of my patchwork fabric destined for my Hexie quilt and as I have the Hexie template printout link above, and will therefore once I have the printer cartridges be "set to trot" as the saying goes and will be able to progress this project further. So slowly things are coming together.
There are also patterns and charts, and some vintage embroidery projects which I bought part-worked a few years ago and which I am determined to work and get put into use. Some of them are very old but the threads came with them. They are part-worked. They are too lovely. For embroidery and for Cross Stitch I need to locate my embroidery stand so that I can get cracking again. I also have the Christmas cross stitch quilt that I started working two years ago. Will see how my arm goes with the knitting I may have to have a day free inbetween on knitting if it plays up too much. So might use the intervening day to actually do some embroidery.
It does not look therefore that I am going to be able to do anything on my Turquoise knitted jacket that is part finished this evening. Never mind not the end of the world but at least I have everything together and once this jumper (the one I was working in the bright colours) is out of the way with it will be ready to go. In hindsight probably after the neck shawls are completed. It will be good to get all these projects out of the way with, so that I can wear them, and get them into wardrobes and drawers out of the way. Any threads, wools needlepoint threads can then be put away in their proper places. Now that would be a success and very much a Eureka moment!
I also have a stash of vintage fabrics for recycling; the items have been damaged in some way, and could be used in a recycled patchwork quilt with embroidery elements cut from the damaged pieces to give a decorative element to the piece. Also thought about embellishment with different embroidery stitches as well. That would be a new project, so no start yet but I am still assembling vintage pieces to do various bits and bobs with.

Managed to finish the back of my jumper. Very pleased with how it turned out. I am having Friday night off the knitting though as I am starting to bottom out the Lounge.
Friday 3 March 2023
Nothing doing on the Knitting front. Night off.
Saturday 4 March 2023
Started to knit the new rib! Went wrong pulled it all down. Now tired and so will tackle it again tomorrow. In fairness though I have been starting to sort the Lounge out today. It is going to take a fair few days to sort and then I have to clean everything.
Casting on the front of the jumper and knitting the rib.
Sunday 5 March and Monday 6 March 2023
No knitting tonight either.
Tuesday 7 March 2023
Managed to get settled down to knit the rib. Had to warn OH to keep quiet whilst I was knitting and counting as it was distracting me whilst I was trying to concentrate. Managed to get all the rib knitted and the decrease and change of needles and a few rows of stocking stitch. Was pretty pleased with how things went despite having to backtrack a couple of times with OH muttering. Coming up very well although the colours are knitting up very differently again. I had tried to get the same colour striation on the front and the back, but this did not seem to work out. There probably is a way of doing this, but as I am not familiar with this if any of you have any pointers or tips on how to achieve this would be very pleased to hear from you. However, generally the wool is knitting up well and neatly.

During the day I did a little more clearing of the front room. I have recovered more of my patchwork fabric, some of it Christmas fabric that is required for intended Christmas quilts and other projects to go with that I had already found. Have packed all the Christmas material into a box. I have also located a load of shirt fabric in Christmas colours which is also intended for patchwork. I have popped all the shirt material together for the time being in order that everything is organised and I have a point of reference as to where to find what I am looking for. So little steps of progress is actually being made.
Today have sat and knitted for the evening doing copious amounts of stocking stitch whilst listening to the TV. Jumper is coming along nicely and quite a bit of progress made again today. Where the knitting needle is, working upwards to the pink row on the top of the knitting. Hopefully will be able to get more done tomorrow night. Will pop up a further update next week.
Progress has not been as quick this week, but I have had a few more hitches with various other bits and bobs and also not being in the right frame of mind to actually knit. Hopefully the "dry patch" has now finished and will be able to get on and complete the rest of the jumper without any further hiccups. I have two sleeves and the neck to knit after the front is finished.
We had quite a bit of snow here on Wednesday evening literally out of nowhere. Earlier in the day we had had a few slight flurries but nothing much. Will see what we wake up to tomorrow.
Catch you soon.
Keep safe and warm wherever you are.
