Starting Work on the First UFO - White Grey and Turquoise Throw Part One Days 1 to 4

Well as I needed to work a couple of extra rows in white on each square for this Throw, I decided to start working all the squares which had already been completed with the two extra rows, which extends the size of the original planned squares.  This is a split post, and there will be a second and maybe a third part to this post.  I am also referring to Day One, etc., these are the days that I actually work on the throw days rather than every day.  However at least it is a start and progress is being made.

Square as it was before working on it.  Ends not worked in here.

Day One

I managed to sew in the ends on four squares tonight.  I also managed to work three of the squares with the extra couple of rows.  Pleased with this especially as I did not start working until about 7:30pm.  The first half hour was sewing in ends.  I  Have noted that the white I originally used for the centre of the squares is a creamier white than the new one.  It is liveable though.  The new white is more an ice white, perhaps better suited to the grey and the turquoise colours.  It is what it is and it will make a lovely warm throw for an autumn or winter's afternoon.  It will be good to get this one out of the way with and completed.

Time engaged: Three  and a half Hours

Day Two

Started again at 7:30pm.  First half an hour used for sewing in ends on four squares.  Then I started the crochet borders.  I worked five squares tonight (one left over from last night).  That is a total of 8 squares now completed for the blanket/throw.  Have now used one 100g ball and started a second ball.

Time engaged: Four and a half Hours

Day Three

Started work at 8:00pm by preparing four more squares by sewing in the ends.  Used the first half hour for this before working the two rows of extra crochet around each square. Worked until 9:00pm (30 minutes) then stopped for 30 minutes starting again at 9:30pm until 12 midnight.

Only worked four squares completely tonight a bit of a slower night, but still another four squares worked.  Total squares worked to date 12 complete squares.

I think there are about 24 squares in total and therefore approximately half way through.  (On checking there are 23 in total.  I have enough wool to recreate the last square as well.  Then will be surrounded by a white border all the way round. Really am focusing on getting this blanket/throw completed.  It is taking a bit of concerted effort but I am determined to get it out of the way with.  Then I can get back to the embroidery after a sabbatical of about two weeks.  Any wool left over after finishing this throw/blanket will go into the small square blanket I am making from left over wool.  Nothing gets wasted.

Time engaged: Three Hours 30 minutes

Day Four

Started early today with the crochet.  Hoping to get more squares done than yesterday.  I need to get ahead and get the basics out of the way with; as well as working the extra square so that I can then attend to the blocking and joining up; then latterly to the external border however many rows that may take.  I want to get back to the embroidery and may go back in between doing this just to give myself a break from the crochet.  Although I am on automatic pilot a lot of the time with basic crochet, I do like the change of disciplines as it keeps you alert and on the go.

Started at  7:30pm

Time engaged: Three Hours

As more work is completed will do an update.  Have not been able to do for a couple of days hoping to get back into the groove with this next week.

Things are not going too badly and it is a UFO.

Catch you soon.
