Back Bedroom Work and other matters
I was up at 5:00am with a Jack Russell. G has gone fishing and left her with me but would she settle No. For the past couple of hours she has been out thank goodness which has meant that I have been able to do a little bit of sorting in the back bedroom. She eventually settled at about 8:30am and then was out for the count until 11:40am. She then started creating. I have fed her and given her plenty of fresh drinks. Despite a lot of complaining from her I have eventually managed to get her settled and she is fast asleep again. We know she is a bit of a Prima Donna, but she has been thoroughly loved and spoiled over the years.
I know I am jumping about a bit, but sometimes you have to when things are all over the shop. Today, I am scheduling and photographing each box as I go so it will be a slow process but it needs to be done. Boxes are also being labelled up with new stickers 2025 indicating the updated schedule not previous ones. My hope is that I will be able to organise like items with like and then label each box with two stickers which I hope will make it easier for me to locate items should I need them. There will be a tier system with heavy items at the bottom on the floor and lighter items up top. So the work has started and I am pleased about that. I did say that I was multi-layering on the way I was having to work, but as I have indicated before, I do not see the point of making several trips to the one box. I might as well address issues whilst I am doing stuff. There is a method in the madness.
The Sorting So Far Minimal but will be Effective
DVD's
Thus far this morning I have sorted 6 x DVD Boxes. All the films are in no particular order. I like, especially during winter to watch a film and there are a lot of good films here to keep me entertained. I have not paid full price for a lot of them in any event. Our local CS shop sells 3 for £1. All so far have been in really good condition.
Royal Worcester Evesham Gold
Next up the Royal Worcester Evesham Gold server-ware which I have started a collection for. Unexpectedly as I had no intention of collecting another service, however this was far too good an offer to refuse. This is to be my harvest/autumn set. Thus far it is just about the various serving dishes. I shall collect one as a time as I go along. Since finding the pieces below at the CS I have gone on to buy another serving dish off Ebay. I have no dinner plates, tea service that sort of thing. However, to start with I am concentrating on the server ware. I can make decisions about the rest later on.
I have two medium side serving dishes, same design but different handles (one came off Ebay).
1 Souffle Dish
2 Large fluted flan dishes
1 medium and 1 small fluted flan dishes
So far.
I seriously started collecting stuff for autumn last year and hope this year to be able to dress the house with some of those pieces if I possibly get turned around in time. Hence there has been a lot of work going on overall. I am aiming to dress the house this autumn, however if it does not come together as I would wish it may be transferred to next year instead.
On the back bedroom front that is all that has been achieved for the present due to a little Jack Russell being very clingy and needy. As long as she thinks someone is around her she settles down and sleeps. It is a nice little start, but I cannot start re-arranging boxes just at the moment that will come. Things are however, being removed from downstairs upstairs. There is a lot to do, but if I can do some each day that would be great.
At least my day has not been a total loss and has ended up being quite productive.
When G came home he took over the baby-sitting I can then get out into the garden to shift the rubbish bags into the front garden. I am intent on getting rid of as much rubbish as I can. I might even be able to start cleaning some of the planters. Kitchen will have to wait until possibly tomorrow or Sunday; progress is being made but it is just not all together at the moment.
After watering up, I am then hopeful of sitting and doing some more cross stitch. Will see how it goes. It cannot just be all about work, there has to be some pleasure somewhere along the line.
In Other Matters
This evening I have an awful lot of work to do. I have a load of rubbish bags to removed from the back garden to the front garden in readiness for going to the tip tomorrow. I want to get as much shifted as I can as I know I am going to have the same again with the garden.
Update:
Have got all the current bags into the front garden. There will be at least this much again as I work along the garden.
I have also done some preparation work in readiness for tomorrow on the garden. The border that I started that runs the length of the patio slabs, has been doused with water and a strip the other side of it with water. From what I understand an organic way of dealing with invasive weeds is to pour boiling water on them and it is the steam and the heat which supposedly kills them. Now as it is a non-nasty way of dealing with things I am giving it a go to see whether it makes any difference. We get weeds grow along the sides of the passage especially at the front so I have given them the hot water/steam treatment as well. Otherwise it will be back to the hoe!
I am also watering the earth where I want to dig tomorrow as it is supposed to make things easier. Will see what happens on both scores. Needless to say, I am going to be busy tomorrow. Tomorrow I must also do potting up of plants. I am hoping for an earlier start again tomorrow
I am also watering the old Herb border where the grapevine grows as I did not get to weeding that the other night. I intend to do this tomorrow as well.
Another job that needs doing here is that the grapevine needs tying in. Will have to string the fence for this and do a little tidying up. Will see how it grows.
The compost has been ordered for all the plants to be put in the garden in pots. All eight x 100 litre bags of it, together with a new Riddle with changeable grids so that I can sieve out the old compost from planters and use it wherever. This is something that I tend to do every year, but my previous riddle was past its best and had become a bit of a liability. So that has been outed. I have also bought in some more Tomato planters for growbags/pots.
I still need to go to B & Q to get some more plants that I have my beady eyes on and I am still missing some plants that I need for making up my hanging baskets. So over the next few weeks there is certainly going to be a lot of gardening going on.
Tomorrow evening I shall water up outside the greenhouses in order to have a go at digging the area I cleared the other day. Once dug I can then get some slabs down out there. The water barrel also needs topping up. I leave out planters when it rains and then empty it into the water butt.
G came back with something to eat so I did not have to cook today. Cannot do everything but I do try and cook overall.
Well here is hoping everyone has a lovely weekend.
Catch you soon.
