Dress Allowance Day

Well I have actually reached the age where I can claim my "Dress Allowance" having been perceived as reaching a certain age that makes this permissable according to Society's strictures.

Today is after all my birthday and it is a gorgeous beautiful May Day with the Sun out, blue skies, blossom in the trees.  What a fabulous day to wake up.  I am sore and tired after yesterday's efforts but I had a good night's sleep and today I have much more to do.

What am I going on about "Dress Allowance" you ask.  Well, when I was growing up we had a lovely shy neighbour called Joyce who when she reached a certain age claimed to get a "Dress Allowance" per month instead of her Pension.  She was embarrassed to admit that she was a woman of a certain age and always referred to as her "Dress Allowance".  Quite a charming way of accepting you are of a certain age, but still putting your own stamp on things.

Me well I still have a lot of living to do, and following in the steps of my darling Dad, he did things his way as we called it "Growing old disgracefully" and I suppose at the end of the day I shall be no different doing what fits with who I am rather than what others perceive I should be doing.  Makes life interesting.

Up until the age of 50 I was afraid to say boo to a Goose.  After 50 something gave and I started speaking up more and was not as bothered about "others expectations".  The trouble is I come from an age where it was socially acceptable for  people to please rather than to do what was true to them so I always end up offending people somewhere down the line whether I do or whether I don't.  Remember if you love someone you love them unconditionally Warts n All or at least I do.  Doesn't matter what they do, it is who they are that counts.

So I am glad to announce that today is MY BIRTHDAY and I am of that PERMISSABLE AGE and I will be claiming my Dress Allowance eventually in my own true style and fashion.

Whether it is your birthday or not I wish you a pretty lovely and happy day, what is not to love about the English Weather at the moment.

Right am off to get on with what I started and get stuck in.  No peace for the "Wicked".

Catch you later.
