Not a Good Night
with Missy, which has had a knock on effect. She had us up from 2:00am until 6:30pm and I had little sleep. I ended up crashing when it is normal to get up - I had to as I just did not feel very well.
Needless to say the little darling later on fell fast asleep and got a kip whilst her humans are all a bit tired and bleary eyed.
As a result not much has been done apart from the fact that I have bought myself two Hollyhock plants one white and one pink. My Nan always had Hollyhocks but I have never grown them. So will be very much a first for me.
I have also ordered about six different mint plants from someone on Ebay with various fruit flavours i.e. Apple, Banana, Strawberry, Lime, Orange, Blackcurrant, Lemon and Grapefruit and another apple mint. Only tiny plug plants all for £7.99 on Ebay - link here:

I am going out in a little while into the garden, initially to water up and check on the plants I potted up yesterday. All lloks good. I am going to start tackling the area outside of the greenhouse I cleared the other day. This will be heavy going but it does need doing and might take me sometime. I will give it an hour or so maybe more. Lots of Ivy roots and other roots to get out so will see how it goes.
Well I started it and it is tough. Am going to water up again tomorrow and have another bash at it. I got some roots out but there are no end more to go. I have roughly dug across the width of the garden using the fork to break things up a bit.
In the interim tonight I watered up the next section near the patio, and chopped some of the grass down. I intend to get to this spot sometime tomorrow just not sure when. I need this spot for the Asparagus bed. Once all the weeds, roots and debris have been removed it will then get a good digging using the fork. This section of the garden backs onto the Rhubarb, which is one of the reasons I am sort of putting the Asparagus in here (well I think I am) at the moment, although that may change once I get to the other side of the Rhubarb. The Asparagus may go behind it. We will see. The idea is to sort of create a loose Perennial Bed. I also have Strawberries to plant which also come under category Perennial.
No crafting tonight though just lots of pottering. Feel a bit out of sorts probably due to the lack of sleep.
I am also expecting gardening deliveries for the next two days. I have bought in some tomato horticultural growing rings and a new riddle with exchangeable grids so that you can get a really fine soil or a larger crumbed soil. I recycle old compost usually in the bottom of planters and this will make life that little bit easier. I have also ordered 8 x 100 litre bags of compost. Just not sure which way on the deliveries are coming in so will just have to wait and see.
Have a lovely evening folks.
Take care.

Sorry you had a bad night with Missy. Does she have a form of dementia do you think? She must be quite old now. Keep up the good work in the garden. I have some more perennials to put in - 2 Delphiniums, another Salvia, (3 for £12 at the garden centre), an Osteospurmum and some home grown perennials. The watering round is a real chore now though, after day after day of hot weather.
ReplyDeleteMorning Jennie, I am pretty sure that she does have a form of Dementia. She gets herself stuck in a corner and cannot remember how to reverse out like she used to do. This is usually when she cries pitifully. G has no patience with her and although she is his dog, if she wants anything she usually comes to me because he does not "listen" and understand what she wants and needs. If she is upset about anything she comes to me for a cuddle or it is me that soothes her down when she is stressed. Last night she would not settle at all and G was at the end of his patience with her. I therefore put her in bed by the side of me and she has slept quietly and peacefully all night with no get ups. G has had his first good night's sleep for a while, so there was a reason behind me doing this. Its not easy with him being Manic Depressive/Bipolar. Mind you I have not had the best of sleeps but as I planned to get up early this morning in any event that was not so much of a problem. She is okay and calm and that is what matters to me. I hate stress of any kind unfortunately both G and Missy wind themselves up and get in a bit of a two and eight. Missy is currently asleep again. She is about 16 1/2 years old and as long as she is okay in herself and comfortable that is what I am working with. Unfortunately I know though that we will not have her for too much longer so we are trying to enjoy her whilst we can. I really am enjoying the gardening this year Jennie, perhaps because I did not get to do it last year. I normally have a bucket of water in the greenhouse to acclimatise to the temperature in there for feeding the plants, so as not to shock them, however at the moment I cannot lift a heavy bucket to get it in there and I do not have a hose pipe. I hope to resolve that one soon and buy in a new watering can. My Mint plugs arrived today and they do not seem too bad. You get a selection of the flavours and not as I thought one of everything and so I shall get them planted a little later on. Trying to do a bit in the kitchen today. Enjoy your pottering in the garden. Looks as though it is going to be a warmer day here. Have a good one Hugs Tricia xxx+
