An Early Start and a Late Finish

Up reasonably early this morning and straight out and starting to load the car to go to the tip.  Two full car full of rubbish has been taken.  I still have a little left over in the front garden that would not go in today. Just get it all cleared and then I started filling it all up again.  I have taken things steadily and paced myself and at the end of the day I am pleased with how things have moved along today.

G is fishing tomorrow and it is therefore planned that we will go to the tip again all being well on Wednesday morning.  In the interim, I will be chopping up the remnants of the Bay tree and bagging up, as well as any more garden rubbish I find.  Nothing in the house is being tackled today, but I am doing stuff in the garden. I am trying to tidy up a bit, and do a bit of weeding in the old herb border once all the Bay tree is cut up.

G is currently replacing the bathroom window; despite never having glazed a window before he has not done too bad a job.  Last Thursday night, the eldest boy next door was playing with his ball in the back garden.  Repeatedly kicking the ball against the back wall of his house, which as it is a terrace is directly connected to ours. He was kicking the ball with some aggression at certain points.  I went upstairs as I was getting fed up of the thud thud against the wall. I was perhaps upstairs for 20 minutes came down to go to the Loo and found the window broken, pushed in from the outside as the glass was hanging inwards and nothing outside.  I suspect therefore that he lost control of the ball (which he does frequently as the times that the ball ends up in my garden or the next door neighbour on the other side's garden) and it hit against the window breaking it.  Cannot prove it, but as he is the only one that plays with the ball in the garden very suspect.  That has cost us £30 to replace the glass and a tub of putty.  Funnily enough, no sight or sound has been seen of them since.  The old boy (he has a bit of attitude in any event) has not been playing in the garden since and I have not seen anyone i.e. a parent to have a word with them.  I class this as total disrespect as I was taught that if you did something wrong you owned up to it, faced the consequences and learned the lesson.  No one has come around. I shall have my say at the end of the day whether they want to hear it or not; it is just catching them.

This area is really going downhill.  If I can get out I will.  Lots have already left the area which used to be really nice, but just lately.  I do not really want to be in the City in any event. One day (and it cannot come too soon)!

When we came back from the Tip I got all the branches big devils taken into the front garden.  Still a load more to come off (every so many years it gets a really good haircut) as it really does grow a lot.  Also got some more rubbish sorted out.  G will concentrate on finishing the Bay tree off on Wednesday the hedge and the Cotoneaster in the front garden will also get finished off then.  Then it will be another trip or two to the Tip again.  So a lot has been done but we still do not have a finished project.  Hopefully Wednesday will see an end to the front garden.

I am hoping also on Wednesday to be able to get the grape vine tied in and the old herb garden weeded and tidied up.

Then I started sorting out the old growing houses that used to belong to my Mum out.  I tend to keep most of my growing containers, trays, pots that sort of thing on them.  They are next to the water butt.  The second one has been put into use for storing my bedding plants like the Tagetes, and herbs that are going to be used in planting out.  I have another two containers of Rosemary to plant up yet.  Once the greenhouse is sorted with the Tomatoes, the Basil will go in there.  My Lemon Balm is starting to settle down and it is gradually regaining its colour.  There are also a couple of pots of Parsley to plant as well.  More herbs to come.

I have therefore partially sorted out the old growing houses.  There is a third one to look at might have to do a repair or two to that.

Then I went onto the patio slabs where I had popped all my planters both empty and still full of compost. I have managed to clear about 1/4 of the containers.   I have riddled some more of the old compost and shall use that in the bottom of some of the planters that are going to be potted up in the next few days.  Then shall add some new compost on top.  Will probably get to them tomorrow night after G comes back from fishing.  There is still more old compost to riddle, but will get to that again tomorrow.  Hopefully I will be able to carry on clearing the patio and doing more riddling tomorrow evening.

I did not come in until 9:00pm.  Had no idea of the time, just methodically working away and getting what needs to be done sorted.  A lot of work has gone in, not much to show for it, but that will all come together another day.

Greenhouses are doing really well, just need sorting and potting on.  Going to be really busy starting this tomorrow afternoon/evening.  Watered them all up, and the plants are looking really good.

Tomorrow as I have said, G is fishing with his friend.  It will be an early start as I am going into the back bedroom and going to start organising and sorting a bit more whilst G is out of the way.  Hopefully will be able to make some in-roads in the organising, sorting out and recording what I actually have by photo and also Scheduling the list of items and labelling up the boxes accordingly.  I am looking to buy some more of the storage containers in the imminent future as well as some cardboard boxes for also storing items.  I must get this sorted so that I know where things are, and potentially have items packed for the future.  There are a lot of items in the dining room that need bringing upstairs as well so hopefully I will get some of these up here and out of the way.  There are also Christmas decorations already boxed up in the dining room waiting to come up.  There are quite a few items to go out as well.

It has been a really busy day, and tomorrow will be no different, I just hope that I make some progress.  I am tackling the books tomorrow first thing and then as I have said before I intend to pack some of my more breakable items into the wardrobe rather than putting the books back.  There are already some items to go round to the CS in any event so at some point they will also need taking to the shop which is literally just around the corner from where I live.

Now off for  a nice cuppa and to put my feet up before getting an early night.

Have a good one.

Catch you soon.
