Plans Go Out the Window
It is a normal state of play around here.
Last night was the first night in a long while where the dog slept! What is the problem you ask. Missy was resolved - G decided to have a manic episode and could not sleep or settle. I just wanted to sleep. Not easy.
On a positive front I suppose it builds resilience. G has said he is going to do the front garden today. That means I have to clear up behind him. Correction he cut the side of the privet hedge and disappeared. We have a rather tall privet to prune and I am not good at wielding the hedge cutter. There is also the Cotoneaster that needs a trim up. Thus far the garden has a lot of bagged up rubbish in it, but I do have to go through the gravel afterwards for holly leaves and a few weeds to tidy things up before we go off to a planned visit to the Tip! Then I will clean the windows. Might also get a couple of bags of gravel to top up the gravel that is in situ. I have an old planter with no base to it, however I do have a very large plant pot that I think will make a wonderful support base and it will put something of interest into the front garden.
I suppose in reality I am half way through the front garden. I cleared up all the leaves from the privet, and underneath the hedge where everyone's rubbish from the street collects, have cleared all that out. I am waiting on G to cut the top of the privet and then I can bag the leaves and dispose of them and then take them down to the Tip.
I have also trimmed difficult parts of the Privet that were sticking out and unruly.
We keep our dustbin, recycling bin and garden waste bin in the front garden mainly due to the fact that they are difficult to manoeuvre down a very narrow passage. We therefore put slabs down and it is easier to manage. Main dustbin collection is tomorrow and so have dragged the wheelie bin out to await their arrival. I have then dragged the other two bins out and cleared all the rubbish that the lovely travellers who use the street chuck into my garden. I have also trimmed the Cotoneaster back a bit as well although G will tackle the main part of that when he goes back to it. I have also been picking up the holly out of the gravel a very tedious procedure. This will have to be finished off when the rest of the rubbish is taken to the Tip.
At least hopefully one project on the list will have been tackled and nearly completed. I sorted out the passage, de-cobwebbed it and weeded it about 10 days or so and that is nice and clean. Will probably disinfect it later on to finish it off.
I had plans in the garden for today but the back garden. Never mind it is what it is and at least hopefully the front garden will be all spick and span again. Thank goodness I got the extra sized sturdy bin liners (I think they are more wheelie bin sized) which cost a lot yesterday. Must say very impressed with the quality and thickness and the size. No skimping here. Now that I have found these and they are a considered expense I will try and feed a roll of these in every month or so, in order that we always have the wherewithal to take the rubbish to the tip safely and cleanly.
I have also bagged up the rubbish that I pulled up in front of the greenhouse last night and recycled all the cardboard tubes and boxes from the last batch of plants that have all now been potted up. Just starting on the next batch. Will definitely have to go back to get more plant pots. Even though I bought about 80 pots I still have not got enough. Hoping to do a little bit of potting up tonight. Mostly the new plants but may get to the Courgettes. Will see how things go. I have the watering up to do as well. Sweet Peas and Nasturtiums are now starting to really push through. Nasturtiums some of them have their full first leaf on. Sweet Peas are showing nice sturdy stems.
I am still mulling over whether I may try with some simple baskets and a planter for the front garden again after all these years after my birthday hanging baskets (G bought the plants and I planted them up were stolen from high up brackets on the front of the house). I like things to look nice, but still in two minds. It will sort itself out eventually.
Plans for tomorrow include finishing off the front garden and then hopefully setting about the Bay tree in the old Herb Border in the back garden. If that is done I will be drying Bay Leaves. I need to dry a lot more than I did last year as I ran out which is unheard of. I am assuming that G will go to the Tip after this has been accomplished.
Right am off to potter and get some tea, think we may be having sausage and onion buns for tea tonight.
Have a lovely evening.
Catch you soon.
