We got there in the end

A full night's sleep without Missy causing a nuisance!  G actually got a full night's sleep last night as Missy was not cuddled into him and kicking as she normally does.  I had the pleasure of her with me on the corner of the bed, laying on a fluffy blanket that I have, that is one of my favourites but which Missy and Mischief are both partial too.  I also had Mischief further up the bed cuddled up into my side and I got a good night's sleep as well.  Wonders will never cease.  Am grateful nonetheless.  Let us see if we can achieve it again tonight.  Not so sure we will but one can always hope.

It is always time consuming here with the breakfast process both for humans and for pets.  We usually have our brekkies first G's is normally cooked I normally grab some cereal of some sort.  Then I feed the cat, make drinks for them, and then get Missy fed.  She is hand fed, as due to a lack of teeth she cannot hold the food in her mouth and pull it backwards.  So I hand-feed her on the side of her mouth that I can pop the food into.  Depending whether she is hungry or not depends how quickly we get on.  If I did not do this she would not eat properly.  G cannot feed her this way not for lack of trying, she just will not have it from him.  Mum feeds her and that's it.

We have so far had two attempts at the Bay tree.  This time round there seems to be more foliage up top than previously and so it is taking some time to remove.  We started on neighbour's side and thinned it out on his side although will have to go back later on.  The thick of it is on our side, and so G has had a good old go at it and I have bagged everything up.  I have also harvested a load of Bay leaves for drying in the process.  Am going to dry a load more as well just to be on the safe side.  Thus far I have managed to pick a big hand mixing bowl full of leaves.  There is still a way to go.  G will go back a little later and have another session and then I will go back and bag up again.  Whether the tree gets finished tonight or not is another matter at least it is in progress.  I hope he does actually get it done as I would like to get the old herb border weeded out.  No great shakes if cannot get to it tonight as will do something else instead.  Probably pot up the Courgettes.  My Nasturtiums are now nearly all through, just waiting on Sweet Peas to catch up and put in an appearance; a few are already through but there are larger gaps.  Both lots of seed were soaked to promote their propagation.

We still have the hedge and Cotoneaster to sort out in the front garden as well.  The garden is now nearly full of Rubbish to go to the Tip, which we now think will be tomorrow, but it could well be Friday at the latest.

I have decided that at some point I am going to put some planters in the front garden and two Ivy baskets that I have had on the go for quite a while, am going to add in some Nasturtiums and probably a Petunia to each basket just for a bit of colour; nothing much.  I have two variegated Euonymus shrubs that I have bought today which apparently keep the colouring all year around.  So it will be a bit of something just to tidy up the front garden that little bit more and make it look a little bit more loved than it does at present.  I really would like window boxes up again both in the front and at the back of the house.

I think we are having a Chinese for tea this evening.  At the beginning of Covid our much loved local Chinese closed.  You cannot blame them, and no one really knew what had happened.  Last week it re-opened, and it has been taken over by fresh people and the Menu is very different.  G is going to collect a meal a little bit later on so we shall see what it is like.

Hopefully later I will then be able to tackle the books in the back bedroom to go through them and sort out if any books can go to the Charity Shop.  Fingers crossed I get there.

Plan for tomorrow at present is to go to the Tip first thing and get rid of all the rubbish currently in the garden.  I need to recycle some of the bags and have not managed to chop up everything we have cut down and there is still more to come off the tree.  Then when the bulk of the rubbish is gone, will set about taking the rest of the Bay tree down and finishing off the front hedge and the Cotoneaster.  Then will set about the old Herb Border and weed it out and tie up the grapevine and tidy things up generally.

Progress is slow, but at least it is happening.

Have a lovely evening everyone.

Catch you soon.

  1. Thank goodness for a decent night's sleep! It really does make a difference. Hope your weather is more settled than ours so that you can get back to the gardening. Yesterday it was 35C - today I had to put a jacket back on as it was only about 15C and raining when I left for the office - tomorrow back to 24C!!! Everything is very green though and flowers are blooming everywhere. Some Iris' in yellow and in a light purple have popped up in the front entrance garden to my apt. building - love them but they don't last any length of time.

I've been working on "meal kits" for my freezer - using up all the bits and pieces from leftovers. Last night's supper was a burrito and tonight's will be HM pizza - all with bits from the freezer. I am also going to make up some smoothie packs tonight.

Hope you get another good night's rest.
