....very disconcerting. I racked up to the Local shop to do the lottery for Saturday and Monday night. Not realising that today was Thursday. I was convinced today was Saturday. Ooohps, me thinks might have to do some more crosswords to keep my memory on the spot. Never mind, that gives me a couple of days longer than I thought I had. There is always a silver lining.
This afternoon, now I have realised it is Thursday, I have been pottering in the kitchen. It is slow going, last night I did not accomplish much as I had to water up which I had not planned on doing. My back was killing me last night and I did not sleep too well as a result. Just could not get comfy. Now I am moving about, my back seems to have freed off a bit, but I will be taking paracetamol this evening before going to bed, and spraying my back up (which I have already done today in any event). Just got to keep plugging away at things.
I have managed to get more washing done today. I keep plugging away at that as well.
Tea for this evening was supposed to be a tray bake. There a couple in the freezer one is a chicken one, and the other I believe is Lamb so it will be a matter of which one comes out first. In the end, we opted for cheese and onion sandwiches as I have a lot to do and the Tray Bake is for tea tomorrow.
I nipped to local shop as there were a few things that were needed i.e. milk, butter, bread, that sort of thing. I ended up going into the CS again on my way back, as it was on my way to the Chemist where I had forgotten something from yesterday. I have come away with some small Roses Tins, which will be ideal at Christmas for popping sweeties in. I am a big fan of recycling pretty, attractive or unusual tins in my home where I can. I do not tolerate rusty ones though especially not for food items. Am a bit pernickety about that. I must say that I only paid 50p a tin!
There was also a train decked out in Halloween decorations so that is going in the autumn pile decorations.
I have also bought a set of vintage twisted stem glasses.
There are also 12 DVDs in total which includes a boxed set of Audrey Hepburn movies including Roman Holiday and Breakfast at Tiffanys. You cannot beat the classics. I have also started collecting John Wayne films and come away with three of his films today as well.
I have already started collecting DVDs for general entertainment as I like to be able to go back and watch films. I can always watch them on my computer with headphones if need be. These will therefore do double-duty as I see them for either watching when the mood takes me for for a Sunday afternoon's viewing, watching through the Winter months. I am lucky that my Charity shop sells them on at 3 x DVDs for £1. I have always enjoyed watching films, reading books and listening to music. I have little projects on the go all over the place.
Just recently I managed to find two beautiful wool blankets from the CS in town. They are designated for winter use, so slowly nice items are being accumulated for that purpose.
I also have a beautiful vintage Ercol pine tea trolley which I am itching to get into service. Once the new flooring is down in the kitchen, and dining room and the bottom of the stairs it should be easy to wheel between the rooms. That will mean Sunday afternoon tea in the front room. Now all I need is a Country Cottage with a bit of land and at least one log burner. Fingers crossed and toes plaited. I like simple pleasures, cosiness, warmth and comfort.
My trolley is similar to this one, a little bit lighter and it only cost me £50. This one is on Etsy for about £295. They are on Ebay a lot cheaper. Ercol furniture seems to have become very popular. Mine was bought about 8 years ago. It is in the front room but we have not been using it.
Feeling AccomplishedToday I asked G if he would make up some shoe boxes that I had purchased on a special offer as I was running out of space in the bottom of my wardrobe. I had tried to make them up myself before approaching G. Got into a right muddle with it which is why I asked G if he would deal with them. He has made a few up for me into which to pop my shoes which have no home at present as I cannot get these into the wardrobe due to current occupants which are very much still in use. I have however had a go under his tuition, and made up my first box.
I have another three packs of 10 boxes to make up so at least between us we should be able to get them all done, then my shoes will be in the "wardrobe" nicely organised and out of the way. These boxes are pretty well made and sturdy for the money paid for them. If you can get them on an offer, then that makes it a lot cheaper and better in the longer-term.
I have mentioned before that there is a small cupboard in my bedroom which was originally the airing cupboard. We also have the entrance to our loft in the ceiling to this room. This little room has been turned into a mini-walk-in wardrobe, housing mostly tops via two rails. It is not the biggest of rooms but it does serve a purpose. These shoe boxes with their contents are destined to be stored in this small little room.
I am doing my best to organise things as I go along so that I can easily find things. All the boxes made up have been filled with a pair of shoes. I do have a weakness for nice clothes, shoes and accessories. Now to slowly get them all organised and sorted so that I can get them easily accessible and easily found. There is a lot of work to do. I have my first of my Boot trees (a support system from getting creases or marks in your boots by holding the boots upright) which have gone into my Cowboy boots, but I do need a few more as I have quite a few pairs of boots. I can do that a bit at a time though until I have enough. I always retain the Boot Trees, as they can be used with successive pairs of boots.
Therefore a little work achieved today, just not what I thought I would be getting up to. Well there we are "swings and roundabouts" as the saying goes, but at least some important sorting and storage work has commenced as well.
In due course the little Dressing Room will have to be decorated out, as will the bedroom. Would you be surprised to hear that I already have the wallpaper for the bedroom! I am just one of those people who plans and works ahead all the time. It was part of my job for over 40 years, so it is pretty ingrained. However, I have a lot of decorating to do downstairs before that happens, unless I bottom out the dressing room and paint it out whilst G is fishing. Now that is tempting!
Right upwards and onwards. I have a hot date, not in a pub with a Cider, but in a kitchen with cleaning cloths, disinfectant and a broom. Not to ride, but I am working on that too.
Have a lovely evening everyone.
Catch you soon.
