Today has been the first day of a fortnight of being busy

It has certainly been a hot one today and the heat has affected me.  I was up early as a certain Jack Russell had something to say at 6:00am and would not shut up. A mug of tea gives you time to pause and consider matters.  Fortunately I managed to calm her when I got back upstairs and she went to sleep.  I ended up going down in my usual fashion and making tea.  And then I came too gracefully, opting to do a little computer work and then having another cuppa before  gravitating to the Garden.  I opened up the greenhouses and I have watered up the greenhouse I did not get to last night and sorted that a bit.  Will do more on that later on.  I do not normally water of a morning, but I needed to in any event.

I have also sorted some other planters out and have been pottering generally.  More wall planters will be planted up later on and I will water up a little earlier tonight; it was 11:00pm before I finished last night

I have now gone into the kitchen and have stacked a lot of stuff outside the back door so that I can move in the kitchen.  As I ran out of space I ended up clearing some of the sorted stuff outside the back door and also shifted the compost further down the garden.  It looks as though I am going to have to purchase more compost.  I am down to 2 x 100 litre bags.

I am just about to cook G a breakfast and then will get on in the kitchen.  Breakfast all cooked, Chestnut Mushrooms, fried bacon, a couple of Hash Browns and an egg with some bread and butter.  That should keep him quiet.

Washing machine is on a boil wash at the moment and I am hoping to get the bedding done today being as it is lovely outside and a good drying day.

Third wash in of the day, I have managed to get to the bedding dealt with and there is a load of other stuff to follow as well.  I have to keep coming in the house to cool down.  Got the bedding all lovely and clean and sun dried on the line.

I have picked more Blackberries about the same again as what I picked the other day.  These are also going to be dried.  I also plan to make some stewed Blackberries again to add to homemade yogurt to be used as part of breakfasts for me in the winter months.  There are also about three Cayenne Peppers ready to pick.  I also have a few Sweet Peppers forming and more Chillies on some of the other plants.  I will probably give all the plants a feed tonight.

Moving forward I am going to have a very busy couple of weeks with early mornings and late nights.  I want as much of this house sorted as possible.  I very much would like to get down to Cornwall for a couple of weeks, but that will not be possible until about the middle of September, based on current commitments so will see what happens. Fingers crossed will manage to escape for a little while, I am very much in need of it at the moment.  It will be good to go to favourite haunts like Boscastle, Bude, Widemouth Bay, Mevagissey and Port Isaac.  There is so much beautiful countryside.  I know it sounds daft but I quite fancy going for a bike ride on the Camel trail as well.  Whether it will come to anything is another thing.  Riding a bike is very good exercise for the legs.  Prior to my Dad having his double knee joint replacement he regularly went for bike rides to build his muscles up.  It worked and it helped him a lot with his recovery as he did not have as many problems as a lot of others did afterwards.  Dad was always proactive.  Still miss him terribly.  Mum too.

Not far from the site where we stay is also a Patchwork shop run by Jo Colwill of Cowslip Workshops near Launceston.  I am keen to have a look around there as well.  All sorts of workshops are run and I would quite like to take one of the classes.  If we were down there for a period of time it would be feasible.  Will have to see what happens with this as well.  There is also a Tea Room as well as a supplies shop.

In the end, I ran out of steam again and when it was really hot I nipped and had a sleep.  Was out for about an hour and a half and felt a lot better afterwards.  I do not cope with the heat well nor the cold.  Awkward that I am.

Not looking forward to tomorrow temperature supposed to be up to 31 degrees.  Think it will be another early start by choice to get on with some stuff whilst it is cooler.

Have been pottering in the garden since the heat has diminished.  Looking forward to seeing the Moon this evening hopefully.  Saw last night and it was stunning.  Should peak tonight though.

Have a lovely evening everyone.

Catch you soon.

  1. Oooh - Cowslip Workshops - what an amazing place to visit. Petrapins patchwork (Dutch shop) give workshops there too. They make some really beautiful things and I have bought one of their quilt patterns, but will be lucky if I get as far as making the central square with an applique bird on it . . .

    1. Hi Jennie, it is about 10 miles from where our caravan site is, literally just up the road, so am hoping when we go next to definitely get to the shop. When I know more about when we can get going forward will then probably try and get to some of the classes or plan to be there for certain classes. Have never heard of Petrapins will have to look into that one. You never know Jennie, you might get to the quilt pattern sooner than you think. Hugs Tricia xx

  2. September is a lovely month for a holiday - not too busy as the kids have gone back to school and you have the chance of some really smashing weather too. I have never been to Cornwall, so I am quite envious.

    1. Hi Tracy, I would go and live in Cornwall if I got the chance. Have always felt it was my spiritual home. September is the ideal month to go to Cornwall. You really must go. We tend to stay around the Cornwall Devon border - we are on a site in Boyton currently which is inland, but in the past we have stayed at a place called St Tinney Farm, Otterham. They used to take touring caravans and tents, but they now have their own lodges which they let out, and people can also buy their own lodge and have it placed there. It is one of the loveliest, quietest places we have ever stayed only about 6 miles from Boscastle and about 10 to 12 miles from Bude and Launceston in the opposite direction. Totally unspoilt and the valley where the Farm is, is a site of special interest lots of wildlife. I have even seen Deer in the valley. Have won David Bellamy awards in the past. They have their own pub (The St Tinney Arms), restaurant, take away, games room, swimming pool, good computer access. There are also about five fishing lakes, and it is located within beautiful unspoiled countryside. An absolute gem of a site. The family who own it are lovely. Although it is quite a few years since we stayed there. If you were considering a first trip to Cornwall I would recommend you go there as you will really be looked after (open all year around) and it is a beautifully quiet site which is ideal for children. We used to take the step-children there and also the grandchildren. The owners (family owned) are very helpful and welcoming. In the quieter months they also (or have in the past) offer mini breaks as well. Their website is here if you want to have a nosey https://st-tinney.co.uk/. I do hope you get the chance to pay a visit. I first went to Cornwall when I was 11 and it was love at first sight for me. I would if I got the opportunity be off like a shot. I am still hopeful. One day.
