Wednesday and Thursday Starting to put the Jigsaw back together
Wednesday
I have managed since bottoming out the under-stair cupboard to just rest. I had the initial flop and deep sleep in the afternoon after the Electrician came and was out for 4-1/2 hours. I have since slept for another 12 hours and am feeling much better. Apparently I was out for the count within about 10 minutes of going to bed last night. That is not normally me dropping off to sleep for normally I am awake for quite a bit.
I had planned on starting the decorating works today, but I am still a little stiff. I have to keep moving and I am therefore doing a bit of gentle pottering today in the kitchen trying to sort that out and then work everything from there. It will happen, just perhaps not on the time-scale I had hoped, but that may not be a bad thing overall.
I am listening to what my body is telling me. It was not impressed and I know that this "self-abuse" is going to have to stop. I am trying not to get involved in all-nighters at all. However the cupboard did take a lot longer than had first thought and the Electrician was arriving at 9:00am. Despite having started a couple of days before he was due. G and I had a bit of a disagreement as to what was actually involved. I had been with the Electrician when he did the initial investigative work and had asked several questions to which he had given me pertinent information and things that needed to be done on my part. I kept telling G that certain things would need to be done and he pooh-poohed it and there was no sense of urgency in what was needed or what needed to happen with him. Which frustrated me. It would seem that I was right in any event, and there were a few replacement switches, ceiling rose and droppers carried out as well (which the Electrician had noted on the survey). In the Pantry for instance the cover to the ceiling lamp would not screw onto the part in the ceiling. He has completely replaced it which I am pleased about. Also a light switch in the dining room (which I did not know there was anything wrong with it) has also been replaced. Must say very impressed with the Electrician.
We have both had a leisurely cooked breakfast this morning and so have started the day off graciously. There is no rush, just need to get on and start piecing everything back together. We plan on having a light tea this evening without me having to cook too much for a change. Not that I do not like cooking it is just when I am focusing on getting a project sorted my focus tends to be what I am dealing with rather than cooking at that particular time.
On a duller note, the washing machine is not working yet despite attempts to get it sorted. Will try it again tomorrow but if it does not co-operate this time the Engineer will be called. I have a big pile of washing to deal with in any event and it is growing!
G is supposed to be going fishing again on Thursday. I do need a few things from B & M on the decorating front but may leave that until next Tuesday to get them, or maybe go on Saturday will see how things pan out as to when I decide to go. There are a few things that are required this month, but whether we can run to all of them is another matter. Will see how it goes.
I need to carry on with some of the other work that needs doing before I start on the decorating, and other practical things. Dealing with them now will save a lot of work in the long-run. The same sort of thing as dealing with the decorating after having the meter sorted. Things need dealing with in sequence and a little mess for a while saves a lot of effort with lifting and moving stuff for me. It may therefore be Friday by the time I start with the preparation work in the cupboard.
I was able to get on with getting some of the minor items into a new home. I may try and start the sanding down tomorrow whilst G is out of the way. Anything will be better than nothing.
We had scrambled egg for tea and it went down nicely. The simplest things are often the best. I have not had this in an age.
There are a few items I need this month. I will need a couple of small buckets of plaster repair for the cupboard. I will also need sandpaper and Yacht varnish and a couple of tubs of Polyfilla. The Yacht varnish is to deal with the internal house doors. They were originally waxed, but the remnants of this needs stripping off and then the doors need sealing with the varnish to give them more protection.
Now I have to go and roll some bread out for OH to use as part of his bait routine whilst fishing tomorrow. I suppose it is easier to do than a worm hunt! Which I will also say he has had me out on in the past! Yep I did it!
Thursday
G went fishing I pulled a hooky day, just doing absolutely nothing apart from watch some films. Not even any computer work. I have had a very chilled out day. I cannot remember the last time I had the luxury of a day totally to myself.
G also apparently enjoyed his fishing.
When he came home, he tackled the washing machine. I was able to come up with the washing machine instructions last night, which has helped a little bit. He thinks overall that the washing machine was too close to the wall and was nipping the pipes which was causing the washer to overfill and not empty. The space we have in the kitchen for the washing machine is very tight but the designated area. In any event, it is now on a cleaning cycle and I will try the machine itself after the cleaning cycle has completed. At least he has got the machine going. It was just not co-operating before. We shall see what happens.
Tomorrow work starts again. I need to sort the study/computer room/craft room out before doing anything else. Should take me the day at the outset to sort this room out. If the washing machine is working properly then I will be dealing with the pile of washing that has accumulated.
Then it will be a matter of tackling the kitchen. I have put some of the items that I took out of the kitchen back, but they still need to go in their designated homes.
Think am going to start on Monday morning with the under-stair cupboard. We still have to live and that means things easily available without any obstacles holding things up. So a few key areas first and then down to the serious work of decorating.
Oh well plans were made to be re-arranged.
Have a lovely evening.
Catch you soon.
