A Shopping Trip, Food, Tomato Plants, Tarragon and Lemon Verbena

We have had a lot of rain overnight and for the early part of the morning.  I think G was fed up with being in the house and we had an unexpected trip out to the Butcher today.  Came home with some proper Lincolnshire Sausages, a Lincolnshire Plum Loaf (some of my Cheddar will go beautifully with this).  Also bought in some frozen Sweet Potato Fries and some Onion Rings.  A punnet of English Strawberries, a couple of sauces a Green Thai one and a Tikka Masala one.  Did look at the joints of Beef and also a Haunch of Venison.  Decided that this trip out would leave these.  Also came away with two full trays of large Eggs.

From there on the way back we were near a garden centre that was originally opened by Post Office staff and from what I understand then grew into what was known locally as The Barn. They had a real reputation for first class plants. It changed hands a few years ago and is now known as Cherry Lane, The Barn.  Had not been for such a long time and so I asked G if we could pop in to have a look.  Those few words are always dangerous.  We ended up coming away with about six Tomato plants, a Lemon Verbena and a French Tarragon.  Prices were very reasonable we spent about £21 in all as there were quite a few offers on.  G was getting a bit agitated as he thought it was a lot more.  I was beginning to fret that we would not get Tomato plants this year.  The universe has therefore blessed us for which I am very grateful. Now to grow the Tomatoes. I shall definitely go back in there as they had lots of lovely plants and it was only a quick nip in today rather than a proper amble around everything.  They had Strawberry plants and I am going to ask G to take me back at some point to see if we can get any.  I have some Planters that would be ideal for this. Although in the past I have also grown them in Hanging baskets. However I also want to look at some of the bedding plants and also suitable plants for hanging baskets and look again at the Herbs.  I am after a variegated Golden Sage (i.e. green and gold coloured).  I also want a few more Thyme plants.

Needless to say my Greenhouses are slowly being filled and with the seeds I have sown as well  I feel that a little progress has been made.

For tea this evening we have had Roasted mixed vegetables consisting of, Bacon Lardons, onion, potato, sweet potato, carrots, red sweet pepper, green sweet pepper together with proper Italian sausages.  It has gone down very nicely indeed.  Followed by English Strawberries from the Farm shop served with cream and a sprinkling of sugar.  Very nice indeed.  Therefore another lovely meal was had and enjoyed.

I hope everyone has a lovely evening.

Catch you soon.
