Another lovely day

Image
I have had another lovely day today which started off with me going to another good friend's home this morning to spend some quality time with her.  The sun was lovely and warm and we spent sometime in the garden and then it got a little too hot and so retreated to the shade of the kitchen.  Had a lovely lunch of seeded bread, Greek salad and smoked hummus  It was delicious.  Very simple but delicious. I then returned to the land of the living this afterno7on.  I needed to stock up on veggies and came back with a cauliflower, courgette, red pepper, yellow pepper, cherry tomatoes, red onion, white onions (a whole net) some garlic.  I then fetched broccoli, carrots, kale, leeks, from the Co-op oh and frozen peas.  We are well stocked up for the week now on veggies. OH in the meantime had paid a visit to M & S and come home with a tagine, some Quinoa, sweet potato chips and a couple of lamb shanks.  We had the tagine for tea this evening...

A day out

Image
I had a fantastic day yesterday starting off with a visit to the Festival of Antiques which is held in Peterborough twice a year.  Please see the link here.  http://www.festivalofantiques.co.uk/ I had never been to this before and had not appreciated just how large it was.  As the size of the event is massive you really need two days to go around all the outside stalls as well as the sheepsheds, and the main Arena building and the smaller one.  I did not get to see everything but I definitely intend to return to the event which is again held in September.  My friend and I had a blast finding many lovely things.  I did not buy anything yesterday after all I am decluttering.  However it has given me an idea as to the quality of the items and the prices available and for some things that I would like to add to the collection (obviously after reducing what I have already) in the future.  I was somewhat overwhelmed as the amount of stuff tha...

The Dresser Shelves

Image
Or at least one set of them. For many years on and off I have collected Victorian style glass ground lidded storage containers to hold food in on one of my Welsh Dressers. Whilst unpacking the unit recently I have located a few more and I believe I have a few more hidden in boxes yet to be unpacked.   I have also been cleaning the house and in the process the dining room has been attacked so the dressers have been sorted and the contents of jars updated.  Even though it is a small collection it has been added to by adding recycled coffee jars, and some of my mum's old Maxwell coffee jars which I pick up as and when I can.   I also had started collecting a range of Kilner storage jars which I absolutely love then they stopped making them.  They are the square jars on the shelf and I am also adding more of these as and when I can locate them.  This is just one dresser in the dining room the other is more for dinner...

Thank you

For all your good wishes and concern.  I am okay now just up to my neck in decluttering. I was poorly last Friday in the early hours with upset tummy and sickness.  I did not sleep much got up but then fell back to sleep.  I had set my alarm as I had a couple of appointments.  The phone battery died, the alarm did not go off and I was out until 6:30pm. On the decluttering front  I am afraid it has been a case of one step forward two steps back.  I have unfortunately ended up with third party interruptions which I could have done without as well but they have been a necessary evil. I am hopeful to be able to put up a proper post over the weekend. I do have some things to look forward to though.  This Friday I am going to an antiques fair for the day with a friend. In the evening I am out with another friend and her husband to see a copy cat group called the "Illegal Eagles".  I am very much looking forward to both events. Inbetween...

I am still here

Well just about.  Things have been a tad busy this week in more ways than one.  I have had a course this week on how to prepare a CV, letter in support, apply online for work via Agency websites and what an employer is looking for from the CV you have created and which ones can be removed straight away.  Interview techniques were also discussed as well as questions to prepare and ask at interview.  So all good stuff.  What was extremely nice was the group I was in was very mixed in ages but everyone got on well together and worked as a team and helped each other.  I was shattered afterwards but it has been good. Equally decluttering is still going on in all areas of my life and the house still looks as though a bomb has hit it but that will be the case until I can get everything stashed properly and a sense of order is restored. I am still finding loads more goodies including lots of books and also lots of kits and projects and fabrics.   For ...

Manic Sunday

I have somewhat a bit of reputation for starting things at odd times of the day.  Last night/this morning was no different in the greater scheme of things. I had planned on cleaning the fridge out the other day before I went shopping but for various reasons this did not happen at all and in the end I did the shopping and then had nowhere to put the fresh stuff.  Doh moment or what. So that is why last night when most people were going to bed I got stuck in and stripped the fridge out and cleaned it and then popped all the new stuff back in.  I still have another fridge to do but that will be next weekend. Like today next week is also destined to be very busy/  Two days of this week I am on a course with the DWP and the rest of the days I have other engagements as well. I did not get to bed until 4:00am (actually 5:00am) and then when I did get up about 9:30am we had a cooked breakfast and then I started in the garden again.  So far I have spent abou...
