Change of Room - Back in the Kitchen

Image
Needs must too much to do here. I had planned on being in the front bedroom today but I have had to change tack and progress with the kitchen instead.  Last night however, I found and I have a lot of lovely clothes and they are not sorted and organised how I like them to be. I tend to colour-co-ordinate on the rails.  However in the course of shifting stuff about I found no end of UFO's and new kits all of which I have deposited into one of the large plastic trunks for the time being so that they can be sorted from here.  At least they are contained a the moment. Today has been a practical sort it out kind of day.  It was also  main Dustbin day and our bin was full.  I have since fetched the bin in and put it back in the garden as well as brought in the neighbour's dustbin as well. I have also added to the rubbish pile in the front garden having been around the house and bagged everything up that can go out.  Another two large bags have also been...

A Little Round Up

Image
Today has been a busy one for me.  Commencing with the local taxi service arriving 10 minutes earlier than planned.  I therefore got to the Doctors surgery, earlier than expected.  They were backed up a little with appointments and so it was nearer to 12:45pm when I came out.  Everyone lovely as usual but as the temperature had dropped slightly today I was experiencing a mild Raynaud's episode and despite trying both arms she was having difficulty getting the blood from me.  I was being mean.  In the end it came after a bit of a massage by myself so both syringes (only two this time) were taken.  Have been known to take five or more in the past.  So that is all done and dusted until the results come in. From there I decided that whilst I was out and about that I would go to B & Q and pick up a few more decorating supplies.  Came away with white gloss paint a big 5 litre tin, some white spirit, a new angled paint brush, and a roll of...

Stripping

Amongst everything else that is going on here at the moment, and as if I have not got enough to do, I have commenced some preparation work in the dining room. Basically, I have started to strip the wallpaper off the walls in the dining room.  It is slow and painstaking work.  I hope to get stuck in though during the course of this week even it if entails me having to work late in the evening or early in the morning.  I am doing this a little bit at a time, and I am also scrubbing down segments of the room as I work my way around.  There are lots of bits of filling into do and all the architrave needs caulking, rubbing down, undercoating and then top-coating.  This can be done a bit at a time also. The skirting boards also need the same treatment. I have an appointment on Monday which will take me into town, and so I will go looking for some of the resources that I need to decorate this room. I need wallpaper paste, a wallpapering kit, plaster repair, wall ...

Thursday I crashed, Friday I rested, Saturday I igot stuck in

Thursday  This heat is really getting to me and I ended up crashing out this yesterday afternoon for about an hour and a half and felt much better for it.  The early 6:00am start probably did not help any. Friday  In the morning.   Missy was also mithering a bit earlier on.  So not much achieved today.  Have just been in the kitchen wading in the wellies to try and get a bit more done. It was too hot and so I downed tools for today.  No point in making myself poorly. Otherwise though It is a matter of just plodding and getting things done a bit at a time where I can. There has been more washing up done.  What I mean by washing up is clearing cupboards out of their contents and giving it a good wash through. It is something I tend to do regularly. There is one thing I have tackled today though.  I emptied a cupboard out the other day and it needs a good scrub out.  I will then pop some of my electrical equipment off the counter into ...

Planning it Forward - Creating a Stash of Preserving jars

Because it is too hot today 32 degrees I have literally done nothing today but take it easy.  That does not stop me from plotting and planning in other areas though. I suppose in my own way I have always been a planner, not probably in a conventional sense, but I have always managed to build up items for a project a bit at a time until I am in a position to actually start a project.  It is the only way to do it when pennies are tight, but it also means that you still get to achieve something that you have been wanting to do in the longer term. Today I am talking about preserving jars.  I am a preserver and always have been.  This year I have not done as much, but that does not mean that I am not going to do any. I have a lot of jars already, but that does not mean that you cannot get more and have them ready to go when the traditional period for preserving hits i.e. the early autumn months when the last of the crops are coming in. I have this morning been on the Hobb...

Today has been the first day of a fortnight of being busy

It has certainly been a hot one today and the heat has affected me.  I was up early as a certain Jack Russell had something to say at 6:00am and would not shut up. A mug of tea gives you time to pause and consider matters.  Fortunately I managed to calm her when I got back upstairs and she went to sleep.  I ended up going down in my usual fashion and making tea.  And then I came too gracefully, opting to do a little computer work and then having another cuppa before  gravitating to the Garden.  I opened up the greenhouses and I have watered up the greenhouse I did not get to last night and sorted that a bit.  Will do more on that later on.  I do not normally water of a morning, but I needed to in any event. I have also sorted some other planters out and have been pottering generally.  More wall planters will be planted up later on and I will water up a little earlier tonight; it was 11:00pm before I finished last night I have now gone into th...

Nonesuch Day

Nothing really much achieved today apart from take things steady in the time up to when we needed to depart for Doddington Hospital for my Ophthalmology appointment to run some tests on my eyes.  Something from what I understand will be happening yearly moving forward in any event, although the underlying reason for the testing is that the medication I am on for the auto-immune conditions can after a period of time cause other issues like loss of sight.  So very much precautionary testing at the moment for which I am grateful.  I then have an appointment with my Rheumatology Consultant at the beginning of August so we shall see if the results are in by then and at least then the Consultant will have some idea of what is actually going on.  I have blood tests next week in respect of this and also in relation to another potential issue as something else appears also to be going on. I am on a regime of drinking more water.  Will see what shows up. In any event I go...
