Not a Good Night

with Missy, which has had a knock on effect.  She had us up from 2:00am until 6:30pm and I had little sleep.  I ended up crashing when it is normal to get up - I had to as I just did not feel very well. Needless to say the little darling later on fell fast asleep and got a kip whilst her humans are all a bit tired and bleary eyed. As a result not much has been done apart from the fact that I have bought myself two Hollyhock plants one white and one pink.  My Nan always had Hollyhocks but I have never grown them.  So will be very much a first for me. I have also ordered about six different mint plants from someone on Ebay with various fruit flavours i.e. Apple, Banana, Strawberry, Lime, Orange, Blackcurrant, Lemon and Grapefruit and another apple mint.  Only tiny plug plants all for £7.99 on Ebay - link here:  MadaboutMint If you click on the link it will take you to the relevant page. I am going out in a little while  into the garden, initially t...

Sunday

I have woken up to grey skies and it is very chilly.  Jumper weather again to start with at least. My Plans for the Day Today I am working where I need to although it will predominantly be the bathroom, kitchen and dining room areas that will be addressed.  I am working between the three rooms as a precursor to working each room individually. At the moment I have various boxes available for packing and there are a lot of items that need re-packing some of which because their original boxes are not as sturdy.  These will then go into the back bedroom. I had planned on doing some gardening today namely some digging but that will have to wait until another day as I need to get my plants potted on first.    There should be a delivery of compost either on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week which will mean that I should be able to get my Courgettes into planters and re-pot all my tomatoes which will free up a lot of space in the greenhouse. They have certainly grown an...

A Slow Day

however very much a busy one.  It was grey and a little chilly first thing, but has warmed up this afternoon with bright sunshine. I had a lay in for a change first thing, as it has been quite a busy week and things have caught up with me somewhat.  However putting that aside, certain things have been achieved. For the past few days the washing machine has been out of action and I now have a big pile of washing to do as we have clean on every day and then there is the household linen, plus I am still wading through the washing of the items that had been in storage.  Today I bought out the Big Guns i.e. G. He has waded in there literally as the washer had not emptied and we have ended up with water all over the kitchen floor.  A slight inconvenience but if it got my washer going then that is all that matters.  I hate it when I do not have an operational washer as I do use it a lot. At the moment, early days yet, but he seems to have fixed it.I have had a wa...

A Little Herbage Part One and Two

Image
I am playing catch up a little on this post, as I managed to post out of sequence. Earlier in the week amongst everything else I have been up to, I managed to deal with the herbs that I have already dried in the past week or so and process them into storage jars. The first item was a load of fresh thyme which I had dried in trays between tissue earlier in the week.  You do not need a dehydrator for this type of processing. You can do the same with Rose petals as well. A proper dehydrator does help with more heavy duty items but herbs I tend to dry naturally. It saves the electricity.  I have the herbs processed in stems and rubbed.  Basically you take a tray and line with tissue.  Add your herb, then on top add another layer of tissue.  You can if the tray is deep enough layer several layers into the one tray.  Let dry for a few days and then process as to whether you want on stems or rubbed.  I intend to dry a lot more Thyme as it is very useful ...

Back Bedroom Work and other matters

I was up at 5:00am with a Jack Russell.  G has gone fishing and left her with me but would she settle No.  For the past couple of hours she has been out thank goodness which has meant that I have been able to do a little bit of sorting in the back bedroom.  She eventually settled at about 8:30am and then was out for the count until 11:40am.   She then started creating.  I have fed her and given her plenty of fresh drinks.  Despite a lot of complaining from her I have eventually managed to get her settled and she is fast asleep again.  We know she is a bit of a Prima Donna, but she has been thoroughly loved and spoiled over the years. I know I am jumping about a bit, but sometimes you have to when things are all over the shop.  Today, I am scheduling and photographing each box as I go so it will be a slow process but it needs to be done.  Boxes are also being labelled up with new stickers 2025 indicating the updated schedule not previous ...

On track

.......Today so far things have gone to plan. Despite the weather being a lot colder and greyer than it has been. I have donned a jumper and have been able to get on with things. Today a trip to the tip was planned and a trip to the tip was achieved. The car was full for one trip (and it is an estate car) and I think that there are at least another three to four trips that will be needed at least with just what I already have ready. In the back garden it hardly looks as though I have touched anything and yet a lot of stuff has gone. All being well will go again on Saturday. Getting rid of the rubbish is very different these days and everything has to be sorted into categories before you even get to the tip. I get that job and then get G creating that I cannot mix the bags which I don't in any event. Its just he does not know what is in them.  Peterborough Recycling is pretty precise and very green and they recycle all sorts of things.  He is a bit wound up like a coile...

Kitchen Orientated

Image
Was up early, cooked G his breakfast then it was a matter of getting ready and travelling down to my Doctors' Surgery. I had a visit to see the Nurse (Vampires) at my surgery. Medics have been taking blood from me since I was seven years old.  Patricia (yes same name as me) was lovely and gentle.  It would seem that the Consultant has asked for bloods and not my GP as I had been told.  I have an appointment with the Rheumatology Consultant in August.  However, a referral is supposedly being made to the Ophthalmic Department of the Hospital.  There is some concern that as I have been on the Hydroxychloroquine for a very long time that it is affecting my eyes and they want to keep tabs on it.  Like Diabetic Retinopathy appointments where they check on your eyes once a year and check any potential changes.  I hope that there is no issue with the medication (although I have had an issue with my eyes being sore for quite sometime), as the Hydroxy is one of ...
