Bit of a Disaster or should that be

...... back to the drawing board. I have what is known as a sliding hiatus hernia as well as GORD and to say it played up a bit last night was a bit of an understatement especially as I had been doing reasonably well. I had a lovely curry for my tea really mild just the way that I love it where you can taste all the flavours and I even kept a little of it for later as there was too much for me to eat there and then.  During the course of the evening, I pottered about and bent down to pick something up.  The bending seems to have triggered an attack and I was unwell.  So it is back to the drawing board on things again.  I was a bit upset as I had been doing reasonably well with it.  On reading up a little more about things one of the things advised to do was to have some ginger which helps with the nausea. I tried this and it seemed to work for me.  I nibbled on some preserved ginger that I keep in for baking and drank plenty of water.  I think th...

A Different day

and not what was expected at all. We were supposed to go to the tip this morning but managed to oversleep. If you do not get to the tip early around here it can be murder and a simple task can be made long and complicated. Never mind, it is how the cookie crumbles. OH then decided in his infinite wisdom that we needed to go down to the caravan store and get the fobs etc sorted out and also take some parts for the van (that were ordered last year after he had had his prang with the caravan) and which were eventually delivered.  They have been hanging around the house so needed to be out of the way until he can make the necessary replacements. We got the security bits all sorted at the caravan store and then went and checked the van out.  It does need a good clean so will be going to see to that shortly and get the van all sorted and cleaned out in readiness for using we hope at the beginning of May for my birthday.  We then came back to Peterborough.  On the way...

Monday round up

Image
We were having quite a pleasant Easter Monday and then thanks to the kidness of a follower tt became clear that my email account had been hacked. I then hsd to spend some time trying to sort my various accounts.  Needless to say I was not a happy bunny.  As I had to resolve security issues I ended up not doing what I had planned on doing. However we did have the roast Turkey with all the trimmings and it went down very nicely. Plenty of meat left over and meat nice and moist. Nine times out of ten I usually make a tray of stuffing then if there is anything left over OH usually snacks on it when he is in hungry mode.  It never lasts very long though. Plenty left over which will probably have on Wednesday. Tuesday night's offerings are going to be Posh Cottage pie using up the meat left over from the lamb roast, some of the left over veggies and the gravy.  A good waste not want not recipe with mashed potato and lots of grated cheese on top.  It is normally very t...

Think I have been hacked

Just to let everyone know, I think my account has been hacked.  If you have received any email messages from me especially in relation to helping out paying for something, please do not respond to it.  I have not sent any such emails. I have as a result been addressing security issues generally. Thanks Tricia

I have two favourite magazines and I do not pay out for a subscription.  I therefore try and get hold of the magazines when I go shopping at Waitrose which is usually once a month sometimes twice. I am talking about the Kitchen Garden Magazine and Grow Your Own Magazines. This time around in the Kitchen Garden Magazine, there are ten free packets of seeds consisting  free this month.  A very interesting selection consisting of the following: Confetti Coriander Tree Spinach and Herb Welsh Onion Courgette Tromboncino and Nasturtium Gleam Hybrids Paris Silverskin Onions Marketmore Ridge Cucumber and Classic Italian Basil Nasturtiums Climbing Mix and Hardy Annuals Dwarf Mix In the Grow Your Own Magazine there are another ten free packets of seed consisting of the following: French Breakfast 4 - Francis Radish and Mint Red Salad Bowl L...

Easter Sunday 2021

Image
Has been a quiet affair.  The icing on the cake for me is that despite inclement weather being forecast, it has turned into the most glorious sunny day with blue skies and it has not been very cold.  Now I have tempted fate! I bought some more Daffodils yesterday.  They really cheer me up on a dull day.  I shall use the dried flower heads like I have from the recent bunches of this perky and cheery flower to use in pot pourri later on in the year.  I had planned on doing some Easter decorating but unfortunately real life got in the way.  Like Christmas decorations, I have an Easter box with various Easter decorations in, plus table linen and Easter crockery including chicken egg cups, Chicken Egg holders.  I shall plan things a little differently for next year, plus there were one or two projects that I wanted to have a go at this year but ran out of time on so this will give me an opportunity to have a play in readiness for next year as it were. A laz...

Very Busy Saturday

Image
It has been a bitterly cold day here today and both of us have been well wrapped up; I have had a thin long sleeved top on, then a fleece top, topped up with a thick hoodie and then my everyday quilted coat.  I was grateful for the layers; very grateful.     Yay major result we made it up early and by 8:20am were outside loading up the car in readiness for the first trip to go to the local tip.  Even though we were early to the site, there was still a substantial queue before we could access the tip.  We eventually managed to get into the bay we needed to and unloaded and then came back for the second trip.  Both times the car was full.  We are going again on Monday as we have more rubbish to get rid of.  However we are gratified to have made huge inroads into getting rid of the front garden rubbish.  No doubt there will be further trips in the week but it all needs doing and sorting. After finishing at the tip for today, we then went on...
